Arthur Xtreme Engineering Xcaliber Graphite Iron Shaft Specifications

AXE XCaliber Tour X Graphite Irons Shaft is rated 4.9 out of 5 by 12.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great shaft! I put a set of these in my irons and wedges a few months ago. My reason was to remedy some elbow issues I've had the last 2 years, and I thought going to graphite was a good answer. I love the feel of these sticks. Yes, it's a little muted, and yes, it's unique. But the performance speaks for itself. Great trajectory, feel, and distance. I really didn't see a difference in yards and trajectory over my old shafts (FST Pro 125s, still a very good shaft), but the feel is unmistakable. And my elbows will tell you that. The heads may change, but these shafts will probably stay in the bag for awhile.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wow! I put together 2 sets of the 85 gram shafts, one for my customer in in regular flex and one for me in stiff. Simply, amazing shafts. First, we both score in the 70's are 61 and 60 years old. We get compliments on the looks everywhere, but the performance of this shaft is what stands out. Both of us are 1 club longer, hit it higher, but accuracy is what makes this shaft a pure winner. Aim it, make your swing and hit your target. We switched from DG Lite shafts and installed them to the Maltby MMB-17 irons. Try a demo with one shaft and see for yourself. Thanks Robin and thank you Golfworks.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Solid Shaft Very solid feeling shaft similar to the steelfiber but with a softer feeling tip, which was what I didn't like about the SF. Tested an 95g Reg against an Xcal SL in two S56 7i, side by side , same length, swingweight, grip, loft, only difference was the shaft. Slightly higher launch angle with higher spin rates than the SL and a little tighter dispersion.About 5-7 yds more carry on ave than the SL

Rated 4 out of 5 by from "Unique" is appropriate... The description for this shaft states "unique" to describe the feel. I would say that's appropriate as it's nothing like I have hit before. I purchased the TS flex and it's feels like it has an active tip from just before, through, and just after the hitting zone. I am a high ball hitter though the trajectory is mid-low boring from the tee, rough and fairway. I believe it's a great blend of steel and graphite and you should expect the feel associated with that blend. Pure muted if I had to describe it. If you like something that draws attention out of the bag, this is it. This thing is good looking and I am really excited to continue playing it. I paired the shaft it have Maltby KE4 HDI 17* and so far it's great. AXE has a very good product here and I hope it continues to work out well for me

Rated 5 out of 5 by from AXE TOUR X 95 S I have the Tour X 95 S paired with the DBM Forged heads and I have been blown away by the performance. I was previously playing the Srixon Z 745s, the "It" iron of 2015. This combination has easily outperformed the Srixons. What stands out the most is the accuracy. Shot after shot is tight to the pin. Flight is mid high but not ballooning. Distance was on par with the Srixon's loft for loft. Feel is fantastic and there is no guessing if you hit a great shot, feedback is just enough with no hint of harshness. Last of all is the value of these shafts, with all of the AXE shafts, there is no better deal in golf. As a final note the touch and feel around the greens is an added bonus. They respond very well to tight little chip shots.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice Shafts I have purchased two sets of these now and they perform very well! They look amazing and feel great. Distance is comparable to other graphite shafts I have owned and the ball flight is slightly lower than most.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from nice shaft! I purchased the Tour X 105 gram stiff shafts. I was a bit concerned from reviews I had read saying that these shaft's tips were very stiff. I found the shafts to be smooth and stable. I play graphite shafts on my irons for less stress on my joints from Rheumatoid Arthritis. These shafts fit the bill. There is nothing harsh about them at all. I picked up about 5-10 yards per iron and the ball is going straight. The shafts have also helped me lower my ball flight. My previous ball flight was very high. Very pleased with this shaft.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from R Flex with a slightly stiffer tip Put 2 shafts on older Maltby MMB heads (P & 5). I like them a lot, and the graphics look sharp. Replaced the steel shafts and striking the ball isn't jarring anymore. I'd like to tell you I'm hitting the ball further now, but that would be a lie. I need a slightly stiffer tip in my shafts because apparently I have an aggressive downswing. Still evaluating if I'll replace the other shafts on my MMB's - they are a spare set so there's no rush.

I've purchased the 95 gram R flex and would like to make a firm flex between R and S. How much would you recommend I trim the 5 - wedge shafts?

Asked by: Rob
To create an in between flex (Firm) with these shafts you need to add 1/2" to the recommended tip trimming. So with the 5 iron where it recommends 1" tip trimming you need to trim 1.5" to create the firm flex.

what's the best shaft for seniors both woods & irons

Asked by: rich65
The Xcaliber shafts in senior flex are very good but unfortunately we are currently backordered on most of their shafts and will not have them in until the middle of January 2017. The UST dhi Driver (US0082) shaft, which can also be used in fairway woods and the dhi iron (US0084) shaft are both available in Senior flex (A flex) and the feedback has been very good from these shafts.

Currently playing a set of DBM irons with FST Pro 125 stiff soft stepped once. Looking to possibly change to the Tour X regular Flex 95 gram shaft. what benefits and characteristics would I see changing to this shafts

Asked by: Rob
The graphite shafts will dampen vibration for a little softer feel. The lighter weight shaft could help you increase your swingspeed and gain a little more distance. If the FST shafts have been playing to heavy you may also gain some shot consistency with the lighter weight graphite shafts.

I am a 68 year old senior golfer,middle handicap.Driver swing speed 80-88,5-iron 65-70.I am looking for a shaft to build a 6-pw KE4-tour set.Considering in steel NS pro 8950 gh,in graphite x-cal tour a-flex or x-cal iron in r flex.recommendation?

Asked by: guru
Any of these shafts will match well with the KE4 Tour irons. The Xcaliber Tour X and Xcaliber iron shafts match well with these heads and should fit your needs. I have played the Xcaliber Iron (AS0023) irons for a few years and have hit the Tour X and both feel very good. You might be boarder line between and A and R flex. We reference an R flex iron shaft for players hitting a 7 iron from 150 yards and an A flex iron shaft for a 6 iron from 150 yards. With the N.S. Pro 8950 the R flex might be a better choice. These shafts play more flexible then normal. It could also match well with the KE4 Tour irons.

Re shafting Ping G-15 Irons what do you recommend in a graphite shaft.

Asked by: tonyc123
The Ping G15 irons use a .355" taper tip shaft. The Xcaliber Tour X iron shafts are only available with a .370" parallel tip, which is to large to fit the Ping irons. The Xcaliber Iron (AS0028) are available in a .355" taper tip but we are backordered on quite a few of these and they will likely not be in stock again until December. We do stock the Aerotech Steelfiber shafts in a .355" taper tip as well as a few of the UST Recoil shafts. We can also special order any of the Recoil .370" shafts from UST with a .355" taper tip.

do you think this shaft needs pureing

Asked by: skip
I always say there is no such thing as a perfectly round perfectly straight golf shaft. Puring identifies the inconsistencies in the shaft so that it can be aligned in the club to play as if it is perfectly round and perfectly straight. That being said on the butt end of the Xcaliber shafts you will notice a white line and a red line. The shafts are oscillated at the factory in a vertical plane and marked with the White line. During installation you would install with the Red line on the top of the shaft putting the white line in the horizontal plane facing the target. Not the same as Puring but better then doing nothing.

in the description of the tour x iron shafts it states that the 95 and 105 wght shaft has a " patented metallic coated fabric over a graphite shell." the 85 shaft is not mentioned to have this makeup. Why???

Asked by: david
Yes the 85 gram weight shaft also have the metallic coated fabric over a graphite shell. When we added the 85 gram version we never updated the description on the web site but we did update the description in the catalog. We will get that fixed.
