What is the best way to remove the shaft of a 1967 Topflite iron? Is it a screw-in shaft? I can't seem to loosen it for removal. What would be a replacement shaft?

There is a chance that the 1967 Top Flite irons had a thread in shaft. The threads threaded in counter clock wise in which case these extractors will not work for removing the shaft because they also thread in counter clock wise. You might have more success using the tap from the GW1106 Extractor. It threads in clock wise and if you heat the hosel and thread the tap into the shaft it may come loose and remove the shaft. You would use this extractor without the sleeve and nut in this case. The last broken thread in shaft I removed I had to drill it out, which if it is a thread in shaft you will need to rebore the hosel to accept a .355" taper tip or .370" parallel tip size shaft. The thread in shafts were a .340" taper tip and there are no shafts available these days with that tip size shaft. Also the thread in shafts were installed approximately 2" into the hosel. When re drilled you do not want to go that deep or it could make the walls of the hosel to thin near the bottom of the hosel. I rebore to 1 3/8" when doing these. Iron shafts back in that time frame fit tighter then we fit them today because of the advances in epoxy.
