Maltby KE4-MP-1 Hybrid Iron Heads

Maltby KE4 MP-1 Hybrid Iron Views

Modern hybrids have been proven to perform much easier than long and mid irons for the majority of golfing community. Over the past 7 or 8 years golfer have opted to replace their 3 and 4 irons with much easier to hit hybrids. More recently the 5 and 6 irons have been slowly being replaced with higher lofted hybrids and producing consistently better golf shots for all. The KE4 MP-1 Hybrid/Irons takes this trend to higher level. The wide soled hollow MP-1 irons are very turf friendly, true hybrids throughout the entire set. The MP-1 Hybrid/ Irons are precision cast from 431 stainless steel and weight adjustable to accept most custom lengths and shaft weights. The difficult task of filling your bag with mixed-matched hybrids with different offsets and lengths to replace your long and mid irons is over!

  • Hybrid playability throughout the entire set for consistent gapping between clubs.
  • Precision cast from 431 Stainless Steel.
  • Adjustable toe weight optimizes the center of gravity and accepts all of the KE4 screws for unmatched customization options.
  • 6 gram screw weight included with each head.
  • Glare resistant Black PVD finish.
  • Consistent offsets for consistency from club to club.
  • Wide sole design with minimal bounce nearly eliminates fat shots but can still produce shots from tight lie conditions.
  • Available 4-PW,GW RH only.
  • Recommended ferrule 60PI
  • Quick Ship Club Pak available

Maltby KE4 MP-1 Hybrid/Iron Clubhead Specifications

Maltby KE4-MP-1 Hybrid Iron Heads is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 6.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from 2nd review I now have the complete set 4 thru GW with Maltby S Flex MPF shafts. I love the size and shape of these hybrids. Fun factor is off the charts. Off center hits and you're still on or around the green. I get a mid ball flight with the MPF shafts. After approx 4 rounds of golf the PVD coating is starting to come come off to the bare metal. The impact of the golf ball on the face of the club takes the coating to the bare metal. Normal wear and tear of hitting the ground will remove the PVD coating to the bare metal. I take care of my golf clubs so misuse is not whats happening. My opinion concerning PVD coating or any other painted coating, is that it is not a good choice for golf clubs. I would rather have no coating with either a natural tumble finish, or polished metal finish. I'll never purchase another golf club head with PVD coating, or any other painted type of coating.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Large Iron I purchased the 5 iron head and Maltby MPF graphite iron shaft. Very forgiving head. At address the head appears to be twice the size of any iron head that I've seen. I like that it's designed to look like an iron head rather than a mini wood head. Very good distance. The PVD coating is nice but the sole of the club already has scratches that really stand out against the black PVD. I'm thinking that the PVD on the sole of the club may not last very long. Overall I like the clubs performance.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great iron like hybrid! I bought the 4h head and paired it with a KBS Tour steel shaft. I've played several rounds with it and so far I'm finding it better than the wood-like hybrids I've been using. It's easy to hit high and I find the iron shape easier to line up. I can also hit a low shot with this that's impossible with other hybrids. It's pricey, but well worth the $$$ if you want a much more forgiving iron instead of a wood like hybrid.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from great feel I bought the #4 #5 #6 and these are truely easy to hit. I play on a links style course and chip a lot with the #6. My chipping confidence from very tight greenside lies has improved a lot. These are very friendly irons on full shots. My #7 #8 #9 #pw are Maltby DBM Forged irons and they provide great feedback on each shot. same black colour as the others. All in all a good mix assembled by Golfworks for a very reasonable price

Rated 5 out of 5 by from easy to hit from anywhere I have been using 3,4,5,hybrids and I really like the ease of hitting them ,so I started looking for a six iron replacement.I paired this head with a kuro kage black iron shaft and love the results.Mid to high launch and carry and roll are perfect .I'm hitting this combination 165 yards with ease, may have to try the 7 and 8

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Super Forgiving Head This iron is exactly what I want in an iron. Mid iron has a slightly larger head and thicker sole. Short iron is about the right size. Should be super forgiving for high handicapers and beginners. Thank you golfworks for making this head.

Wanted to know what can i get a 1 or a 2 iron

Asked by: Paul
The 4 iron is the longest iron we make in the KE4 MP1 irons. For a 1 and 2 iron I would recommend the KE4 Tour HDI Hybrid irons (MA0238). These work very well. http://www.golfworks.com/maltby-ke4-tour-hdi-hybrids/p/MA0238/

can the Maltby KE4-MP-1 Hybrid Iron Heads be bent for loft and or lie angle

Asked by: tharick
No we are not able to adjust these for loft and lie. Even in house we have had no success being able to adjust these. The black coating penetrates the material and it is a very hard coating. That is what limits or eliminates the bending.

,I'm thinking of building a set irons with the KE4-MP-1 Hybrid Iron Heads using project X rifle 6.0 shafts which is a .355 taper tip shaft and the Hosel ID is .370. Also will be using the brass adaptor shim SHIMT.Please advise on shaft selection .Thanks

Asked by: Mike Sos
You certainly could install the Project X Rifle .355" taper tip shafts into these heads using the SHIMT. As long as this shafts fits your needs it will match just fine with these irons. One thing I will advise when installing shafts into irons with this black finish is to first abrade the inside of the hosels. The black finish which is smooth also gets on the inside of the hosel and can effect the epoxy bond. Epoxy bonds to a clean abraded surface. I like to abrade using a wire brush (GW1061 or GW1060) and then use Acetone on Q-tip to clean the inside of the hosel before shaft installation.

I will like to order from 4 to GW How much will be to have them build ? I know will depend on shaft option, I am reg flex, will like a great graphite shaft, I wil wait fro answer before ordering

Asked by: fernando
The cost for a set of 8 heads, with a Mitsubishi Kuo Kage Black 1st gen shafts comes to $479.84 US. This doe not include the price of a grip (you would need to choose a grip and add to the cost) or the assembly cost for a set of 8, which is $40.00.

I want to buy the Maltby KE4-MP-1  Black finish RH Pitching Wedge @ $34.99. Can you advise your preferred shaft & (slightly fatter) grip to fit this clubhead. I am 182cm tall, 74 y.o. male - handicap 11 - so prefer regular graphite shaft a bit forgiving

Asked by: The Mayor
Our MPF Series Graph. Iron shaft (MA0251) works very well with the MP-1 set. We have numerous midsize grip options to choose from, but two very good options would be the Royal Classic V (RG0014) or the Royal XV (LK0119).
