Maltby MPF Distance Graphite Wood Shafts is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 5.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great shaft for the price I bought these shafts about a month ago and installed them on my "metals." After the first round to get familiar with their characteristics, I am enjoying playing with the new shafts. They do give me more distance, straighter shots and feel light and comfortable.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice Stick I bought this shaft to put into a TaylorMade Burner 2 Superfast 9.5 degree driver. I did this for a pal and he likes the club now that it has a stiff shaft.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Fine Shaft Installed it into a Nike VR-S str8 fit. Now I am longer and straighter than my buddies. A good replacement for the OEM shaft.

What does the 4B2M mean at the end of the shaft qualifying data?

Asked by: Duke1
The 4B2M is a Maltby Playability Factor code that comes from your answers to a series of questions. 4B2M would indicate a (4) Stiff flex, B (Distance and Accuracy), 2 (medium trajectory), M (no left or right correction needed). On our website you can go to the Maltby Playability Factor and then to the Find the shaft that Fits your game tab and it will take you to the questions. The Shaft MPF is designed to narrow down the choices of shafts and identify shafts that have the general specifications and characteristics that could fit your game.

I have a Cleveland 588 custom driver with the regular flex shaft and the adjustable tip do you install the adjustable tip on the shaft that would fit my driver as well as a grip looking for a senior flex shaft as my swing speed is about 70mph thanks

Asked by: bill
We do not stock a shaft adapter for the Cleveland 588 driver. We do offer an assembly service for installing the adapters and grips so that they can be just installed when the customer receives them. There is a chance that we can special order a shaft adapter for the Cleveland 588 driver. You would need to contact our Customer Service Department at 1-800-848-8358 or by email at regarding a special order.

Could you install a TaylorMade Adapter on this shaft for a SLDR head?  Also, could you trim to play at 45" with the adapter installed?

Asked by: Jeff
Yes we can do all of this for you. You will need to order the shaft and the adaptor (TM0023) and request to have the shaft installed and tell us what setting in the shaft adapter you would like the shaft set to.

I am 18 handicapper and have a X2Hot driver want to try another shaft need more distance. I'm a big guy 250 lbs swing thru on the deliberate to fast side. Wonder if I should try R or S flex? Want some kick but not too soft of a tip shaft.

Asked by: Golfaddict
The stock shaft listed for the X2 Hot driver was an Aldila True Blue that was listed in the mid 50 gram weight range. If you tend to get a little fast or quick with your swing this might be to light. A shaft I might recommend would be the Graphite Design YS6+ (YS633WPL) or maybe even the YS7+ (YS733WPL). It is a very good shaft that can give you some kick without feeling to soft in the tip. As for flex you can base that on your swingspeed. We rate an R flex with a swingspeed of between 77 and 92 mph and an S flex between 93 and 107 mph. 108 mph and over would be an X flex. The Mitsubishi Kuro Kage Black HBP 2nd Gen (MR0044) wood shaft could also be another good choice. You can read the specifications for these shafts by scrolling down the page to the specifications box at these links.

Our MPF Distance is a very good lightweight shaft. Our feedback from this shaft has been very good. We do not have an Adams shaft adaptor. However Taylor Made tells me that the Taylor Made TM0023 adaptor will fit the Adams XTD.

I am looking for a low spin, low launch, tip stiff reg.shaft  like the Adila Rogue Silver but at a more reasonable price. What would you recommend?

Asked by: Joe R
I would recommend looking at Aldila shafts like the original NV 65 (1205W) or the VS Proto 60 (AL0014W) as shafts that would have similar playing characteristics as the Rogue Silver.
