Maltby Trouble Out HL Fairway Views

The Trouble Out HL fairway/utility wood's' progressive bounce sole design featuring tungsten sole weighting and the two sharp turf cutting parallel runners has been re-engineered to perform even better than the previous models. The sole bounce pad surface area has been increased to allow the actual measured bounce to be decreased without sacrificing the effective bounce of the club head. The runners have been expanded allowing the leading edge of the club face to sit lower to the ground improving contact on tight lies without affecting the performance from other types of turf and sand. The Trouble Out HL classic pear shaped profile features progressive face heights (shorter in #3 progressing deeper in the #9) to optimize impact area, ground contact and trajectory. The heavy tungsten sole weight lowers the vertical center of gravity to produce more solid shots vs. traditional fairway woods.

  • Classic shape manufactured from 17-4 stainless steel.
  • Extreme sole weighting, built in progressive bounce and two parallel sole runners produce a very aggressive high launching trajectory from divots, hard pan, sand, high grass as well as tightly mowed fairways without fear of hitting a fat shot.
  • Progressive face heights and leading edge heights optimize impact area, ground contact and trajectory.
  • Tungsten sole weight lowers the center of gravity to produce more solid shots.
  • Available in a #3, #5, #7 and #9 wood.
  • Recommended ferrule - 53PW
  • Product Code - MA0230

Maltby Trouble Out HL Fairway Woods is rated 4.714285714285714 out of 5 by 7.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Playable Both In and Out of Trouble Purchased the 3, 5, and 7 woods to add some versatility to my set up depending the course played. I find the heads very forgiving with unexpected length. The heads produce results all over the course. If you like head-heavy feeling fairway woods and look for results through solid contact versus pure speed - these are worth a serious look.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Dropped my hdcp in half... Been using the full range of Maltby trouble out woods for the past 6 years and in that time, my hdcp has dropped from 20 to 10. My friends all laughed when i first pulled out the 11 wood, but they don't laugh anymore when I'm knocking it stiff from 150 meters out ... highly recommended.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice clubhead Review of the 5w. The head itself is very well constructed and nicely finished. I built with an Xcalibur SL Fairway shaft and unfortunately it is not a good combo for me. I would recommend others to give this head a shot.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Bought three I prchased the 9 wood three years ago. A friend tried it and loved it so I built one for him. I then purchased the 7 wood and it has become a go to club for accuracy, high flight, and varying distances.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Getting it up I bought a 3 and a 5 wood head in order to get the off our tight lies. I have had 7 and 9 woods for many years so knew what these would do.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Been Playing these Woods For Years I have the 3 5 7 9 & yes an 11 wood that I built 6 years ago. Would not give them up for any other clubs on the market.

Thinking if getting the Malty Trouble Out HL #9 wood.  Is there a recomended shaft? Male golfer, 12 handicap

Asked by: TedB
You could use any fairway shaft that fits your requirements. The MPF Series Fairway shaft (MA0249) or the Xcaliber Fairway shaft (AS0021) would be good options to consider for the TO #9 wood.

Does the Trouble Out HL utility club come in left hand.  Would like a #9. If they do not co,e in left handed.  WHY?

Asked by: Jake
We do not offer the Trouble Out HL wood in LH. We just do not sell enough LH to justify the cost of design and manufacturing.

I am looking to put a TT S300 wood shaft in this club head. I know modern heads are now designed heavier to accommodate the lighter graphite shafts. Would a steel shaft work for this head?

Asked by: Gus
Yes, you can put the TT S300 Dynamic Gold wood shaft in the Trouble Out Fairway wood. Modern head weights in fairway woods have tended to be lighter than in years past because the lengths of fairways woods have gotten longer. They have gotten longer because of the lighter weight shafts that are most commonly used. Traditional 3 wood head weights were usually above 215 grams. Now it is not uncommon to see the 205 -210. the traditional 3 wood length was 42". Now most are 43-43.5". If you make a 3 wood with 205 gram head weight, using the TT S300 shaft and a standard weight grip, and make it 43 inches in playing length, the swing weight should be around D2.

How long is the 3 wood shaft on trouble out plus

Asked by: Roger
The code MA0230 is for the clubhead only. We do not have this club as a stock assembled club. We can certainly assemble it for you with any shaft you would like. We do offer a Club Pak for this 3 wood that comes with the clubhead, shaft & grip and right now includes free assembly. Our standard length for this combination would be 43". However we can assemble it to a length you would want as well.
