Mitsubishi Rayon Kuro Kage Black HBP 2nd Gen Wood Shafts

KURO KAGE™ Black Second Generation: Like the original KURO KAGE™ Black, the Second Generation KURO KAGE™ Black features a smooth bend profile, with a softer mid-section balanced by a slightly stiffer tip and butt-section, with an all new higher balance point. Our High Density Prepreg continues to be used in the lower third of the shaft, for enhanced feel, stability and strength. Using High Density Prepreg also allows us to raise the balance point, to give you greater speed.

Mitsubishi Rayon Kuro Kage Shaft Specifications

Mitsubishi Rayon Kuro Kage Black HBP 2nd Gen Wood Shafts is rated 5.0 out of 5 by 3.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great feeling shaft with fantastic performance Purchased the Stiff flex. Put a Callaway Optifit tip on, with no tip trim, and am using it in a Callaway Alpha 815 driver. This Kuro Kage feels very smooth. It is not boardy but not whippy either - just right for me. I get good distance and a tight dispersion. I have used Aldila Tour Rogue S , and Fujikura Speeder 767 S with this head. The Rogue is a little too stiff, and the Speeder is a little too whippy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very satisfied After building myself a KE4 2 driver with an A flex shaft my swing speed increased to the point of needing a stiffer shaft the KuroKage straighten out my drives and took the whip out of my swing thanks

Hi Regarding this shaft. Would this fit a R15 Taylormade head? Can you supply the adaptor sleeve , is it available in "stiff" what would be the total costs? What about grip? regards

Asked by: ray
Yes the MR0044 shaft will fit the R15 Taylor Made driver. You will need the TM0023 shaft adaptor. We can install which ever grip you choose to order. For all your pricing questions you need to contact our International Trade Accounts manager, Donna Ours, at and she will be able to help you.

I have a Mizuno Tziod Ti 5 Wood with a Stiff Mizuno Turbo Gold shaft in it. I would like to reshaft to a regular graphite shaft. It appears the shaft has a .325-.345 tapered tip. Center of the tip is .335". Spec 3B2S 65 gram? Any suggestions? Thanks

Asked by: Chip1sbell
The information I have on the TZoid Ti metalwoods showed they used a .335" tip diameter shaft. It possibly had a short parallel tip section or the shaft was sanded incorrectly. If a .335" tip size shaft does not fit we would suggest having the hosel bore reamed to accept a .335" tip diameter shaft. The Kuro Kage Black HBP 2nd Gen 60 Wood (MR0044) shaft could be a good choice. Even though it does not have the S code it is a little higher torque and torque is the factor we use for the S code. Being a higher balance point can help make the shaft a little more draw bias for some players as well.

replacing a shaft in a Ping 2010 G15 13.5* driver to orginal spec 3B2S R flex.  my SS is 85-90. what are my options?

Asked by: Larry
The stock shaft in the Ping G15 was a low 50 gram weight shaft. It was also a .350" tip diameter so you will have to use the BB9048 Ping Adapter and the .335" size to shim a .335" shaft into the .350" hosel bore. A few shaft option would be the new Aldila AldaLite (AL0055) and the Graphite Design G Series 40 (GD0027). I would also look at the Xcaliber Tour SL (AS0026). Even though it is a 3B2M it is a shaft that can still work and match well.

I have a 1995 Ping Eye 2plus set of irons ( graphite ) If a shaft is replaced and it has to be tapered by hand, will this weaken it substantially?

Asked by: Dave
There is always liability in doing this. It is not a service we offer at The GolfWorks so it comes down to what liability you are willing to accept if you do it.

Hi! I'm stuck between regular and stiff flex with my 90-95 mph swing speed. Can you tip trim the regular Kuro Kage Black 3/4 to 1", to achieve a regular+/stiff- flex?

Asked by: KSW
Rule of thumb with graphite shafts is that 1" is equal to a change of flex. If you are using this shaft in a driver where the recommended tip trimming for the R or S flex would be 0" you would take the R flex and tip trim 1/2" or what ever amount you feel would work best for you.

Pairing this with my 5 wood, finished length of 42.5". It's a W8 trim, so I'll be cutting 1/2" off the tip and 3" off the butt. I want the finished product to play stiff so should I buy a R shaft since 3-1/2" are being cut? Thank you.

Asked by: C C
The W8 code calls for 3/4" tip trim for a 5 wood, then trim to final playing length from the butt. If a Stiff flex is what you need, you can order the stiff and trim per the instructions. it is designed to play to the designated stiffness when trimmed according to the trimming instructions. 42.5" playing length is around about standard for 5 woods.
