Maltby KE4 ST-1 Driver

Maltby KE4 ST-1 Driver Views

The Maltby KE4 SF-1 driver geometry was inspired by the F-117 Nighthawk Stealth Fighter for improved aerodynamics and eye-catching aesthetics. Precision Forged using multiple forging steps results in extremely tight fitting titanium shell components as well as denser, tighter material grain structure for improved sound and feel. Because the titanium shell components fit so precisely, valuable weight is saved during the plasma welding process to allow for a 198 gram head weight using an interchangeable 6 gram screw weight without sacrificing the 460cc volume. Because the KE4 head weight can be adjusted from 194 to 206 grams, the custom shaft length and weight options are nearly endless.

With a deep (2.312”) VFT Cup Face design, The effective sweet spot is maximized for increased ball speeds over a greater area of the face. The unique aerodynamic sole design reduces air friction and places mass low and rearward to increase MOI and further enhancing forgiveness.

The attractive matt black crown finish reduces glare and the black PVD treatment increases metal strength and durability for a very “stealthy” look at address and in the bag.

  • Four Piece Precision Forged construction.
  • Precision Fit Plasma Welding.
  • VFT (Variable Face Technology) face design.
  • Aerodynamic geometry.
  • .335” bore diameter.
  • 6 gram screw included.

Maltby KE4 ST-1 Driver Clubhead Specifications

Maltby KE4 ST-1 Driver is rated 5.0 out of 5 by 5.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Really impressive Driver I first got this head months ago and just could'nt hit it. Then I cut it back 1/2" and added a heavier weight and the club transformed. With a UST 65 shaft I get a beautiful flight and for me very long. It has a sharp precise sound like a ping pong hit. I love this club. Any problems - only that I'd like Maltby to make some more colorful heads - say metallic orange, green or red for instance. The matt finish does not do the head justice imo.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from easy to hit i tried the 9 degree first and did not like it, then went to golfworks proshop and handpicked my own 10.5 degree head. stuck it on a CER-vx75 stiff shaft, and it is money. easy as heck to hit strait. the cer-75 shaft is also a great shaft for strong yet smooth swings, dont let the price fool you.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful club Visually this is a beautiful club. It's like Titleist and Adams had a love child. Shafted it w/the MPF (S) and added a Tacki-Mac Red/Black grip. The result is a club at address that says its all business. Performance wise the face has a very hard feel at impact - like driving a nail. Not a negative as it provides a lot of feedback. Sound is high pitched but not tinny. Very solid sound. Which is nice because I have found that a lot of component driver heads lack in this area. I would concur w/others who have reviewed the MPF shaft that it is a wonderful performer for the money. This head/shaft combination I feel would suit a pretty wide variety of swings. Shaft is incredibly stable and smooth feeling. My stock shot is a baby fade but feel this combo would accommodate someone who plays a draw as well. Of course this club is not a panacea. A really bad swing gets a really bad result - as it should be. But in general terms I find the club to be reasonably forgiving. It has

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Workable I have hit this driver at the range a few times and hit it "live" on the course 3 to 4 times. Easier to work the ball with this driver than last driver I hit. Sweet spot is large on this driver head - so even less than on the nose ball strikes still results in decent distance.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Really Good I started with the 10.5d and R shaft(Pershing) This was a predictable club but not long for me Then I got the 9d and S MPF shaft and gained 20yds My driver is 100 mph Hcap 3 Age 58 I'd recommend these heads to anyone looking for consistent results they are very high quality

Does the 9 degree have the weight port positioned behind the face instead of at the back of the head like the 10.5 shown ?

Asked by: smitty
No the weight on the 9 degree is also in the back of the club head.

Have you ever had the head tested to see what the smash factor is when hitting? Do the other weights come with the driver to change the head weight. ?I play at 47" and need a 196 or so head weight.

Asked by: DBT2GREEN
We manufacture all of our drivers with a CT around 250. The limit for CT is 256 (239 +17 manufacturing tolerance). The additional weights for the ST-1 driver are sold separately. Installing a 2 gram weight would hit your 196 gram weight spec. You can also ask to have the head hand picked for weight that might get you under 196 grams. Our weight tolerance is +/- 3 grams so it is possible to find a stock head a little lighter than the 198g spec weight.

what shaft does it have. mid low torque works best for me in regular flex.

Asked by: mister c
It is not easy to know which shafts might work best for a player without knowing more about that player but we get good feedback from our MPF Distance shaft which comes as part of the pak with this driver head. I would also recommend the Xcaliber 6 shaft. It can also be a very good match.

9 degrees is too much ... is there an 8 or 8.5

Asked by: kvscott241
9 degrees is the lowest designed loft in the KE4 ST-1 Driver. We have had success with ohter players that have played 8 or 8.5 degree combining the 9 degree with stiffer tip shafts. Particularly, the Xcaliber SWD50. Their launch angles with this combination have been similar to the lower lofts.

Do you plan to submit this head for USGA volume testing approval? I ask because Iike the idea of building a pair of legal drivers in both these lofts (although the 10.5 now seems to have disappeared too. Hopefully that is only "for the moment)?
