Maltby KE4 Tour Irons
Reviewed By:
niblick (Bend, Oregon)
For a number of years Ive played the CER 851 UM irons. I also have a set of the original KE4s, which I find forgiving but shorter than the CERs. Recently I built a 6 iron test club of the new KE4 Tour, with the black finish. I shafted it with the MPF Distance graphite, in A flex (Im an old guy). I really liked the way it played, so I have just completed the set, 4 through GW, all with the MPF Distance, ½ inch over long, with oversize Winn Excel grips. I ordered the heads bent 2* upright, and it is impossible to see any creases or evidence of bending a great job. Wow, what a sharp looking set of irons. I took them to the range to get a feel for them and they didnt feel quite right, but the adjustable weight port in the back of the head allowed me to tinker with the swingweight, and easily get the feel where I needed it. The black finish might not be for everyone, but I find it a very clean look, and it really makes the head look compact at address. Also, the white score lines on the face are narrower than the CERs, which also makes it look compact. I find it helps me to focus on the center of the face. My game depends on the wedges and short irons, and I find Im getting a good, high trajectory, with very good distance. Even when I mishit a shot, I felt the club gave me more than I deserved. I think this head is a real winner!

Maltby KE4 Tour Iron Heads
Reviewed By:

I purchased and built a KE4 Tour 7 Iron two weeks ago to try it out on the course. This head is very forgiving and long. I am surprised I am able to still work the ball when needed. This past weekend I ordered the remaining set of irons. This is a great club and looks fantastic.

Nice Irons But

I have been playing a set of Maltby M05's since 1994. I have always wanted a set of black irons, so when these came available March 2012 I ordered 6Iron thru GW. They are nice Irons, however the black finish scratches easily and will chip if not protected from banging together in the bag.
