Maltby KE4 ST-F Fairway Woods

Maltby KE4 ST-A1 Fairway Views

The Maltby KE4 ST-3d features a deep (1.594") 455 Carpenter Steel face design with weight positioned more forward on the sole to produce a flatter trajectory with less spin. The ST-3d is ideal for golfers that are high ball hitters looking to maximize distance and control off of the tee box or simply desire more carry and roll distance from the fairway. Available in #3 14 degree.

The Maltby KE4 ST-F multi-material fairway woods feature a forged 455 Carpenter Steel high strength steel face and a 17-4 stainless steel body to produce an extremely solid feel at impact and very high initial ball speeds. The shallow 1.275" face height breeds confidence when addressing the golf ball. A very slight hosel offset appeals to all types of players and helps to square the club face at impact and also increases the rearward center of gravity for an improved launch angle. The ST-F fairways woods are weight adjustable to allow for numerous custom shaft and length options. The stock heads comes with a 6 gram weight pre-installed but any of the KE4 weights can be used to adjust swingweight or head feel. In addition, the ST-F fairway woods sole design features a sloped rearward rail design that allows the sole to glide across the turf with minimal ground contact.

  • Multi-material design: 17-4 stainless steel body and 455 Carpenter Steel face, providing extremely solid feel and high ball speeds.
  • Unique rear rail design reduces ground contact, gliding across the turf for more solid contact.
  • Adjustable weight allows for customization and positions weight low and rearward to promote the optimum trajectory and also increasing MOI (Moment of Inertia) for added distance and stability on off center hits.
  • Single screw weighting system allows for a variety of club length and shaft weight options. 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12 and 14 gram weights available in both the traditional KE4 3 prong weight screws and the KE4 triangle weight screws.
  • Weight wrenches available - MA0032WT (Triangle) and MA0032W (3 prong)
  • Product Code - MA0228

Maltby KE4 ST-F Fairway Clubhead Specifications

Maltby KE4 ST-F Fairway Woods is rated 4.8333 out of 5 by 12.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Maltby's Got It Right I wanted to make a switch from the Tricept BM3 Forged Adjustable Fairway Woods - which I dearly love for their hot face and great balance, because the bottom runner technology doesn't cut it from the fairway or rough. Great off the tee, but nowhere else are they ideal. Regardless, decided to try these KE4 ST-F Woods and just love how they perform. Fantastic from the FW, ideal from light rough where the lower profile face gets the club head through. Fitted them with the MPF Distance Graphite Wood Shafts, and I hope I never need another FW Wood combination! The interchangeable weights make tuning the club a dream. Nice job, Ralph!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Performer for sure Bought this head looking for a driver substitute on tight par 4's. Delivery from The Golf Works was exceptional. I installed a Grafalloy Pro Launch Blue stiff shaft. I've had it to the range twice, hitting both off the grass and tee. The performance is very good and the sound at contact is pleasing. My ball flight I would say is somewhere mid trajectory, not bullets but not super high. Carry is in the 240 yard area + or - depending on the quality of the strike. The only negative I can report is the the black sole. Scuffs up pretty quickly. Granted you don't see it when in use but I believe it would be a product improvement if the sole was a metal finish rather than painted.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome I bought the 3d as I am a high ball hitter. Really outstanding club. I had it hand picked at 13 degrees. I paired this with a Grafalloy Prolaunch Red, x flex, PURED. I built it at 43.5 inches. Really amazed at how solid this club is. Incredibly solid feel, very long. I hit one of the best 3 woods off the deck into a par 5 this week to set up an eagle putt, and have hit numerous bombs off the tee. It is easy to work both ways. Tremendous club, can't say enough.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wonderful Bought the club pak and added hot melt. As a seasoned fitter/builder I've seen my share of 3 woods and typically it is one of the toughest clubs to get dialed in. No 3 we will be the best both from the fwy and tee. There is a fundamental compromise on one or the other to be optimal. The ST-F is as good as anything I've used off the deck. Accurate, easy, long. Fit the shaft, length, weight proper and it is absolute money. Really nice looking also. The hot melt makes it feel awesome too.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Pure Awesomesauce This is the first Maltby product I have tried and my first club build and quite frankly I am blown away. If all the other products are as good as this 3 wood than I will have a bag full of Maltby sticks in the near future. The club is extremely easy to hit both off the tee and the turf. I built mine to reach par 5's in two but I'm starting to use it more and more off the tee on short par 4's. The 14* head gets up and launches high but it has a piercing trajectory. I am a high spin player and had ballooning issues with my other 3 wood but not with this club. In terms of feel and sound, it reminds me of the Callaway x hot woods. Seems to be about 10 yards longer than my other 3 wood but that could be due to the better spin numbers and 1/2 inch longer shaft. The footprint of the club is a little bigger than I anticipated but the face is very shallow. To me it looks like a Titleist wood that's been stretched out from front to back. Best 3 wood I've hit to date and I've tried every ma

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to hit. Solid feel. Purchased the 3 wood (ST-F) and had an Excaliber Tour SL regular shaft installed with Golf Pride Tour Wrap grip. The combination is the best 3 wood I have ever hit. Great off the tee and off the fairway. We are in the winter months in SC and the grass is dormant. Can't wait until the ball sits up in the fairway. I should be able to launch the ball even higher and farther. Fantastic head and shaft. Will be building an identical 5 wood at some point. By the way, spend the money and have the shaft pured. It makes a big difference.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from KE4 ST-F FAIRWAY I PURCHASED THE 5 WOOD FOR MY DEMO RACK IN MY SHOP.I ASSEMBLED THE CLUB WITH A REGULAR FLEX SHAFT PURE DTX MIDSIZE GRIP. TOOK THE CLUB TO MY DRIVING RANGE AND WAS VERY IMPRESSED. ONE OF THE MOST SOLID HEADS I HAVE TRIED IN A LONG TIME. I WOULD REALLY LIKE TO SEE GOLFWORKS OFFER THE NEWER MODEL IN THE FAIRWAY DESIGN WITH THE DEEPER FACE ONLY KEEP THE WEIGHT SCREW REARWARD LIKE IT IS IN THIS MODEL TO BE ABLE TO FIT MORE GOLFERS. THIS IS A GREAT PRODUCT HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS TO ANYONE WANTING A GREAT PERFORMING GOLF CLUB.

Can the lie angle be adjusted ? Who can do it ?

Asked by: monty
It is very difficult to adjust the lie on a fairway wood. We can attempt to adjust, but only up to 1 degree.

How does the weighting grams effect swing weight? I e. if grams goes up 8 how much does swing weight change?

Asked by: Musket mike
That depends on where you put the 8 grams. If you were to put the 8 grams at the head, it would increase the swingweight by 4 points.(2 gram change in head= 1 swingweight point) Now, if the 8 grams is changed at the grip end of the club, it would affect the swingweight by 2 points.(4 gram change in grip= 1 swingweight point) Lastly, if the 8 gram increase is in a heavier shaft, you would change the swingweight by just under 1 swingweight point. (9 gram change in shaft= 1 swingweight point)

I m interested in adding swingweight to my clubs to an E3. I see that your KE4 Sirons have some weights but do not know how much they would add. Any ideas? I would also like to weight up my driver but do not have enough knowledge to figure out how.

Asked by: pipengr
E3 swignweight is really a high swingweight. The KE4 S irons come with two 4 gram weights installed. You can get up to 14 gram weights that can be installed. 2 grams equals 1 swingweight point, so if the swignweight is D3 for example, with the two 4 gram weights, you would need to put two 14 gram weights in the head, replacing the two 4 gram weights, to increase the swingweight by 10 points, to E3. That's a big change, and a lot of weight, and will make whatever shaft you install play more flexible due to the much heavier headweight/swingweight. As far as the Driver, if the Driver you are playing does not have weight adjustability, then the only ways to increase the swingweight are to lengthen the club, add lead tape to the head, or add weight in the shaft tip, which requires removing the head, installing shaft tip weights and then re-assembling.

Do you have play-ability factors for fairway woods and drivers?

Asked by: Jim1946
The MPF was designed to determine the mass and dimensional characteristics of club heads (specifically irons) and explain how those dimensions effect the playability and/or forgiveness of a design. The MPF is basically a rating systme for playability and forgiveness based on the mass and dimensional characteristics of a design. On fw's and drivers, the distinction and variations of designs are far less clear. FW's can vary slightly, but not nearly as much as iron designs. The entire nature of fairway woods and hybrids, with lower cg locations, deeper cg locations, etc, make them more playable than many iron designs. Basically the smaller the fairway wood and the deeper the face, the less playable it will be versus a shallower face and larger fairway wood. All the fairway woods and hybrids we have are rated either Super Game Improvement or Ultra Game Improvement. As far as Drivers, the distinction gets even more difficult. All premium drivers are basically the same size, weight, etc. Todays drivers are all basically Ultra Game Improvment due to their size and MOI. You simply can not draw enough distinction from cg location to say one is a great deal easier to hit than another.

What's a 3 D wood vs. just a 3 wood?

Asked by: AZMarkG
The 3 D is the same loft as the 3, but has a deeper face with a more forward cg location. This deeper face design promotes a more penetrating trajectory. The standard 3 is a shallower face with a lower and more rearward trajectory to promote higher trajectory.
