Maltby KE4 S Iron Heads is rated

Bought a 7 iron head some time back. Have tried it with several steel and graphite shafts. With a UST IRN graphite shaft this club is very easy to hit and long. It has a nice medium ball flight. Good off center hit performance. A high quality club for sure. This head is more compact than other super game improvement heads out there, and the sole width is in the medium range. If you want a giant head or a very wide sole look elsewhere. Despite being more compact than some of those SGI or GI shovels, I find it just as easy to hit. I have played some TaylorMade RBZ irons over the last year, and this head performs as well or better than the TaylorMades.

I have used many of the Maltby iron products the last several years and I was quite suprised with the feel of these irons. When struck dead center the feel is SWEET! When struck off center a little they are still solid, bit the feedback is enough to let you know you missed the shot. I assembled them with the axe tour x 95g iron shaft in a stiff flex and golf pride cp 2 pro grip. After adjusting to the (modern) jacked up lofts, I have hit some of the best iron shots I have hit in years. Make no mistake these irons are long, accurate and easy to hit in addition to an ALMOST forged feel. The appearance is not clunky at all at and honestly very eye appealing in the bag. Do not be afraid to give these a try!

VERY OLD GOLFER
ONE OF THE BEST THEY HAVE EVER DESIGNED
I PUT TOGETHER A SET 6--GW OF THESE SEVERAL MONTHS AGO AND HAVE FOUND THEM TO BE THE BEST OF THE KE 4 LOT. COMPLETE ADJUSTABILITY WITH WEIGHTS. I BOUGHT A FEW EXTRA WEIGHTS AND MADE ALL THE HEADS MATCH TO A GREAT MOI SET. I LOVE THE FACT THA MALTBY RATES THE HEADS WITH A PLAYABILITY FACTOR AND USE THAT WHEN PICKING A HEAD TO TEST. TRIED DIFFERENT SHAFTS AND FINALLY GOT A GOOD MATCH FOR ME. I PLAY GOLF EVERY DAY.

My first custom clubs
I recently retired and promised myself a set of proper tools. Chose these after hitting a test club. These feel great...straight and long. Anxious to see if the clubs and more practice change my game dramatically.

Only bought gap wedge head to try out. Very disappointed! I have given this club a good try on practice tee and course and have tried to adjust feel with lead tape. No feel to it. "Clunky" might best discribe it's feel, especially chipping. No longer in my bag.

Is 3 iron available? I want to know what kinds of shafts are available.
No we do not offer a 3 iron in the KE4 S irons. We have all types of steel and graphite iron shafts available for these irons. We do offer Club Paks for these irons, 1 with steel shafts and 1 with graphite shafts. You can see those at this link.

Can the weights for the KE4S heads be used in the older KE4 heads? ?Even the 14 gram weights?
The weights will fit the older model KE 4 irons. However the original KE4's and KE4 U30 irons will accept only up to an 8 gram weight in each port.

What iron head is like the Cobra Bio Cell ?
We do not pattern any of our designs after other companies. We do our own designs. For our designs that have similar play ability or playing characteristics as the Cobra Bio Cell we would suggest the KE4-S (MA0254), KE4 STi (MA0262) and even our KE4 Tour (MA0261). The KE4 Tour would have a little less offset then the Bio Cell irons.

Can I get a 3 iron for this set I can't hit hybrids to save my life but I can hit long irons I'd like a 2 iron also but nobody make those anymore.?
We do not manufacture this club in a 3 iron and have not manufactured a 2 iron in a number of years.
Have you looked at our KE4 Tour HDI irons? They are available in a 1,2,3,4 & 5.
In 3 irons we have the TE Forged (MA0099)
and the MMB-17 (MA0226)
Another option would be to take another KE4 S #4 iron and have the loft adjusted 3 degrees stronger and assemble it to 3 iron length. You could lighten the weights in the clubhead from 4 grams each down to 2 grams each to keep the swingweight more in line.

I took my son to golf Galaxy, he is hitting a Calloway x series 8 iron, standard length, senior flex at mid to upper 60mph. is it possible to get the steel shaft cut to a flex for him?
I will past the links here for the steel shafts that we offer in a senior flex. The A is the senior flex.
You can see the specifications for these shafts at the bottom of the page at each link.
