On the Mitsubishi Bassara E-60 grap. iron shaft it has 3B2S at the end. what does this mean. I was thinking about putting/ordering the new irons with the 47 gram shaft instead of the 60 gram. what are your thoughts.

Asked by: west texas
The 3B2S references the Maltby Playability Factor for shafts. It is a code that helps you identify a shaft by flex (3 means R flex), by whether the player is looking for distance, accuracy or both (B means Both), Trajecotory (2 references a medium trajectory) and correction required (Slice, None, or Hook - S would reference a Slice). Whether or not the 60 gram or the 47 gram would be best really depends on your feel preference. Both are considered ultra light for irons, so if distance is your main need, the lighter shaft would be better, as long as it provides a feel you like.

I was wondering, do either or both the Miyazaki shafts or the Bassara shafts require spining? If yes, how do I have an adjustable head hosel adapter installed properly?

Asked by: John901
No shafts "require" spining, but spining or Pureing can enhance the performance of shafts. Basically, when you Pure a shaft you are finding an orientation of installation that allows the shaft to flex consistently. If the installer knows the setting of the adaptor for the player, the Pured shaft can be installed to that setting. If the setting is changed, however, then the shaft is no longer in it's optimum position, so any benefits of the Pureing would be lost.
