UST Mamiya Recoil Irons

Finally, a revolutionary technology that will change how you think about iron shafts. UST Mamiya’s new recoil iron shafts are a game changer. In the past, heavy weight graphite iron shafts felt dead and stiff. With UST Mamiya’s exclusive recoil™ technology, we have brought feel back into the shaft, while allowing players to hit a wide range of shots that result in better distance control and pin seeking accuracy.

By positioning over 19 different layers within the shaft, we were able to create a design that outperforms the best steel shafts in the market.

  • Great feel and lightweight options to increase club head speed for greater distance
  • Lighter weights for faster club speed
  • Medium to medium high ball flight

I have Recoil 460 shafts in my hybrids, what Recoil shafts should I use in my Muzino irons?

    Asked by: Ramsey
For 2015 we will have the Recoil 460 Iron shaft available in A and R flexes. If you like it in the hybrid it could also work well in your irons. However there is a good chance your Mizuno irons use a .355" taper tip shaft and the 460 is offered in a .370" parallel tip. We could special order it from UST in a .355" taper tip through our customer service department. You can contact customer service at or by calling 1-800-848-8358. Here is the link for the Recoil 460 shafts on our web site.

I have MX17 Steel shaft. Will changing to these shafts be ok or would I be better off getting a new set.

    Asked by: Golferdude
Clubs are reshafted all the time for the purpose of trying something new in hopes of improving performance. The UST Recoil shafts are high qulaity, high performing shafts and could work in your existing irons, as long as they are the correct flex, length, weight, etc. for your game. If you like the heads you are playing, it might be worth trying the reshaft instead of buying a whole new set. You could actually just reshaft one of your clubs to test out before you make the full investment.

do you recommend the recoil 670 for a Mizuno MX series irons? looking for a replacement for my True Temper Dynamic gold shafts

    Asked by: webb
If your Mizuno MX irons have Dynamic Gold shafts they would be a .355" taper tip. The Recoil 670 shafts are a .370" parallel tip. The 670 shafts can be special ordered with a .355" taper tip to fit the Mizuno irons. The 670 is a very good shaft and could work well with the Mizuno irons as long as the shaft fits you. Another option that is also a very good shaft would be the Aerotech Steelfiber 70 iron shafts and they are offered in the .355" taper tip.

What does the 660 and F2 mean on a UST MAMIYA ?recoil shaft?

    Asked by: Doc A
Not sure where the 660 as a reference for UST comes from, but knowing how difficult it is to come up with a product name that has already been used or protected. Numbers have become very common in product names. The 60 part of 660 does reference a shaft that is in the 60 some gram weight range. UST will reference shaft weight on graphite shafts before they are painted. F2 is a code for an A flex or Senior flex shaft. We often say that ego is a fitting factor and those needing an A flex do not often like to admit that so shaft manufactures have gotten creative in how they identify the A or Senior flex.

What recoil shafts would you recommend for the titleist 714 AP1 in the regular flex.

    Asked by: Rocloc
The Titleist 714 AP1 irons use a .355" taper tip shaft. The Recoil 95/110/125 are available in a .355" taper tip and will work with the Titleist irons. If you wanted to use on of the lighter weight Recoil irons you would either need to have the heads reamed or rebored to accept the .370" parallel tip or have our customer service department special order the lighter weight model from UST in the .355" taper tip. You can contact customer service at or by calling 1-800-848-8358.

Which end of the UST mi maya 660 .370 gets trimmed

    Asked by: Richfdu
Both ends of the Recoil iron shafts will need to be trimmed. You must follow the tip trimming instructions prior to installation. These instructions can be found here: After the shafts have been tip trimmed and installed into the club heads, you will need to trim the butt end of the shaft to your desired playing length. If you provide the club type and required finished length The GolfWorks repair staff can pre-trim both the tip and butt end of the shaft for you.

do you carry the Recoil 660 355 taper tip shafts? I currently have KBS Tour 100 shafts in my Callaway Apex irons and would like to switch to graphite. I think the 355 tapers are needed for the Apex irons... Thanks.

    Asked by: wdj1951
We only carry the Recoil 660 in the .370 tip in the F2 (A) and F3 (R) flexes. We do carry the Recoil 95, 110, and 125 in taper tip .355 in multiple flexes, R,S,X.
