Maltby KE4 ST-A1 Driver

Maltby KE4 ST-A1 Driver Views

The KE4 ST-A1 adjustable driver is a game changer! Game changing in that it gives professional club fitters and avid golfers the ability to customize driver head specifications to optimize ball flight. Using a proven adjustable hosel design that allows 26 distinct settings, the ST-A1 designed square face angle can be adjusted from 3 degrees closed to 3 degrees open by changing the FCT adjustable hosel sleeve settings using the FCT torque wrench. Multiple options in between the maximum closed (C) and open (O) location allow for face angle adjustments at lesser amounts, providing true fine tuning of directional flight and trajectory. In additions, the lie angle can be adjusted independent of the face angle. The "N" or neutral setting provides a standard lie angle and the "NU" neutral upright setting on the FCT adaptor provides a 1.5 degree upright lie angle. Two designed loft options provide vertical flight control, with the 9.5 degree loft option providing low-to-mid trajectories and the 10.5 degree loft option providing mid-to-high trajectories. Players of all skill levels, with the right amount of adjustment, can find the perfect setting to optimize their ball flight.

FCT Standard Hosel Settings

  • "N" Setting - The "'N" setting is used for a neutral face angle, lie angle and designed loft angle. This setting promotes a straight ball flight and a trajectory true to the designed loft angle
  • "O" Setting - The "O" setting can be used to the club face. This setting promotes a left-to-right ball flight helping to reduce hooks with a trajectory true to the driver heads designed loft angle.
  • "C" Setting - The "C" setting can be used to close the club face. - This setting promotes a right-to-left ball flight helping to reduce slices with a trajectory true to the drivers designed loft angle.
  • "NU" Setting - The "NU" setting is used for a neutral or square face angle with an upright lie angle. This setting promotes a draw and a trajectory true to the drivers designed loft.

Maltby KE4 ST-A1 Driver Clubhead Specifications

Maltby KE4 ST-A1 Driver is rated 5.0 out of 5 by 3.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from great head for your $$$ Had this driver built for me by my dad. It was fit with an Aldila Serrano Stiff shaft that was trimmed for a bit more stiffness. This driver is a monster. I still need to tweak it a bit to find a sweet spot, but set on Neutral I feel comfortable addressing the ball and launching it well over 300yrds. The loud PING sound it makes is nice too. Total assembled cost was about $225. You can't find a driver of this quality for anywhere near that cost.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Driver Absolutely a great driver! It is absolutely a beast and has a great sound to it. Very forgiving and adjustable hosel and weight port adjustability is great for dialing in ball flight and the swingweight I want for my 44.5" driver. Only complaint I have is the head I was sent had a small ding in the paint on the crown I had to fillin with a sharpie.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quality driver I thought I need this head for its adjustable features, but after assembly at zero adjustment for face angle, I am hitting longer and straighter than ever. Great investment.

is this head adjustable to 12 deg.?

Asked by: retiredman
The MA0227 has face angle adjsutment capabilites of +-3 degrees. Actual lofts (measured lofts in the square face position) will be the designated lofts (9 or 10.5 degree). So, the head can not be adjusted to an actual loft of 12 degrees.

how do i make adjustments to the head and how do i know when the right adjustment is made for example a closed face adjustment and what does it look like on the hosel in relation to the head an o setting or c setting or n setting i guess i need instructio

Asked by: golf man
To make an adjustment, loosen the adaptor and position the setting you want (C, N, NU, or O) and the corresponding line on the adaptor centered on the backside of the hosel. The C is for a close face, the N is for a Neutral or square face, the NU is for a Neutral / Upright face and lie angle and the O is for an open face angle. Once you have positioned the adaptor in your preferred position, tighten the adaptor in place.

I closed the trunk on my shaft. The shaft broke about a foot from the clubhead. I am concerned about the adjustable [ferrule] being damaged when I remove the shaft. ?Do you have a recommendation on how to remove it? ?A tutorial or web link would help

Asked by: nonverbal
The adjustable adaptor or ferrule on this driver is totally aluminum. There is no plastic ferrule to damage. Using our OEM Adaptor Saver Kit and a graphite shaft puller is the easiest way to remove the adaptor. Thread the proper size screw through the washer and install into a graphite shaft puller as shown in the picture. Heat the adaptor and use the shaft puller to pull the adaptor off the shaft tip.

Asked by: Dave 210
A 6 gram weight comes with each head. Additional weights can be purchased here: The wrench that comes with the driver will work on both the FCT hosel adaptor and the triangle screw weights.

Does this head require a threaded shaft?

Asked by: Artie
The ST-A1 driver is an adjustable driver that has a hosel piece that is epoxied to the shaft. This piece is then inserted into the head at the specification that works for you, and is attached by the screw in the sole. It does not require a threaded shaft.
