"Just like the MXO Woods, the MXO irons are designed for the frustrated mid- to high-handicapper, who would play far more often (and improve) if they had more confidence. The challenge was to build an iron with extreme perimeter weighting and a low center of gravity. New tow-piece, bi-metal construction techniques presented us with the opportunity to reach new levels in game improvement design. The strong, 15-5 stainless steel face is only 2.5 mm thick, providing significant weight reduction. The 431-cast stainless steel body takes advantage of this, and concentrates weight to the extreme perimeter of the head, using a deep undercut cavity. The cavity is far deeper than possible with conventional casting techniques, helping move a lot of weight rearward, further lowering the effective center of gravity. This cavity shape and depth and the extremely low profile of the head lend to the very forgiving nature of this iron. Amazingly enough, inconsistent sweeping types of golf swings are rewarded with solid feel, and straight and high shot trajectory.
