Maltby Design Enhanced Graphite Shaft Extractor

We've taken our most popular Graphite Shaft Extractor and made it better! The Enhanced Graphite Shaft Extractor is designed with an internal load sensing spring and indicator. To use, place the club into the device and tighten as you would any screw-type extractor. Tighten until the indicator shows the spring is loaded. Then apply heat. The pressure exerted by the spring is enough to cause the head to slide off once the epoxy breaks down from the heat, but not so much spring pressure that the head shoots off! Your hands remain free, as you don't have to feed pressure while the head starts to move. Improves efficiency and reduces the damage to shafts and heads.

Please Note: Additional shipping charges required due to weight.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Tool Just received this vise on Friday. Mounted it next to my radial arm saw where I cut shafts with a masonry blade (giant Dremel tool). Read the directions for use, and within 30 minutes, I removed two shafts from drivers, thereby, saving me just over $100 in shafts. This is so simple to use. Perfect addition to any hobbyist's (me) or clubmaker's shop.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Simply great! This thing is heavy duty, very well built. The spring loading feature is great - no worries about using too much heat. I was a little skeptical initially thinking the price was a little high but once I received it and put it to use I realized it is worth every single penny! Great tool and great value!

Can you buy the metal plate that fits between the extractor and the ferrule

Asked by: PJM17
We do have it. The code is UAP. You will need to call in this order as this part will not show up on the web site. You could also order it through GolfWorks Canada but it would have to be shipped from the US to Canada and then to you. 1-800-848-8358

How does this mount into a bench vise? From the photo it looks like it bolts to a bench.

Asked by: sparky11756
The holes are there so you can bolt to a bench if you want to. If you want to use in a vise, you simple tighten the jaws of the vise around the base of the extrator. We would recomment you use some kind of protective pads in the vice tp prevent scratching the paint on the base of the extractor.

I'm having trouble with the shaft slipping under a load and I'm afraid to tighten the shaft too much and have it break. I used windex to clean the shaft and rubber mounts. Do you have any suggestions? How much pressure do you need to put on the shaft?

Asked by: Tom H
You want to tighten firmly and having the pad clean is helpful. The taper of most shafts will prevent slipping and even on parallel tip steel shafts, you should be able to tighten the clamp enough to prevent slipping. Be sure you are heating the hosel enough to break the epoxy bond.

Is this device base and center block shaft holder aluminum? Can see that bolt, spring and guide rod are steel. Thanks

Asked by: Stuart
The GW1009 is manufactured here at The GolfWorks with all steel materials. Replaceable rubber coated pads ensure shafts are not damaged.

We do not have an instruction video for the Enhanced Graphite Shaft Extractor. However, we do have a printed instruction sheet with images that shows how the extractor works in detail. http://www.golfworks.com/images/art/GW1009.pdf
