Handy tool

I used to use a Dremel to prep shaft tips and that worked okay. I got a GolfWorks 1x30 belt sander because I thought it would be quicker and more efficient. It was both. It has speeded up my shaft prep process and made it more tollerable (my least favorite part of the clubmaking process). I recommend this tool for the more serious amateur club maker. NOTE: I found that by placing a "dustbuster" or my wet or dry vaccuum's hose next to the work area of my belt sander, I was able to control and minimize the dust created by the shaft preparation process.

Not good for ferrules

Excellent for steel shaft prepping. But take care in using this for ferrules. Paired with a linen belt, the machine tends to shift the belt from side to side. Very hard to control this movement. Also the height of the belt makes it hard to turn the head.
