Not Just For Women
Reviewed By:
Scott Pope (Springfield, Missouri)
These aren't just for women. I turned 50 this year, and it was time to give up the long irons. I already have a 7-wood, so I got the 22 degree and 26 degree to replace my 4 and 5 irons, as they have a similar weight and offset. I installed them on my current 3-iron and 4-iron shafts. The first time I played them recently (we actually had a 60+ degree day here where I live in January, so I was able to sneak out), there is a particular par 5 on my home course that is really narrow. I can't reach it in two, but a good drive and a good approach, and I'm in birdie territory. My long irons were all over the place until now. Anyway, This is THE shot I got the 22 degree for. It had good arc, laid up perfectly, felt sweet, and the added weight compared to other hybrid heads meant that I could use my preferred graphite shaft (I have elbow injuries that take steel shafts out of the picture). OK, I did miss my birdie putt. But that's for another day. Guys--don't overlook these hybrid heads if you're playing a set of irons with a slight offset and need help with your long irons. They work. Period. Thanks.
