MALTBY GLIDER S FAIRWAY HEADS
MALTBY GLIDER S FAIRWAY HEADS
The Glider S 3 wood was designed to make hitting the long, off the fairway shot easy. Designed with the same principles used in the Glider series of irons, this #3 wood has an extremely low and rearward center of gravity which helps get the ball airborne. The sole design is flatter than most fairway wood designs, which helps keep the cg low. The combination of the flat sole and the shallower face height makes the Glider #3 wood sit not only very square at address, but “low”, which gives the player the feeling that getting the ball up is not going to be a problem. The shallow concave crown moves more weight to the perimeter for more forgiveness on off center hits. The 16° loft provides the perfect loft progression into the Glider S hybrids.
Highlights:
- Manufactured from 17-4 stainless steel.
- Wider body design instills confidence at address.
- Shallower face height helps launch shots to the optimum trajectory.
- Designed using “Advanced Shell Technology” to properly distribute
the mass to maximize performance.
- Slightly longer blade length (3.43”) increases the surface hitting area
and increases MOI (moment of inertia) for more forgiveness.
- Flat sole design keeps center of gravity low and rearward to
enhance trajectory and provide an extremely solid feel.
- Concave crown design moves more mass to the perimeter
to improve forgiveness.
- Available in 16°
- Recommended ferrule – 60PW

- Wednesday, July 23, 2008 Happy Camper Reviewed By: Gerald Crum (Elyria, Ohio) The design of the new Glider S 3 wood appealed to me, so I ordered one to give it a try. I selected the UST ATR 65 shaft in R flex, tipped it 1" and trimmed to an assembled length of 43.5". I also decided to try the new Lamkin Michelin OCS Pro grip in 1/16" oversize.
The results are just outstanding. Easy to hit from the fairway or the tee, very long, and straight. I'm 70 years old, and have lost some distance, but I got a lot of it back with this combination. I liked the grip so well I regripped my entire set with it, so the whole experiment was an eminent success. The ATR 65 shaft seems especially well suited to this head.
- Wednesday, July 02, 2008 Finnaly a club I can use. Reviewed By: Richard Isom (Arnold, MO) I am 73yrs. old w/injuries to my back, neck, & wrists. Don't swing fast enough to use a driver. I recently purchased the Maltby Glider S Fairway #3 Wood, & paired it up with the Grafteh GT A/L Shaft to use as a driver. Finally I am able to drive 175 - 200yds. again. I WOULD NOT TAKE THE MOST EXPENSIVE DRIVER MADE AS TRADE FOR IT. I am diving straight & far once again & can also use it from the fairway. Thank You, Rich Isom
