Maltby Tricept Wedge Views The Tricept wedges feature CNC milled square grooves and a CNC milled hitting surface. All of the Tricept wedges are identical in shape and blade profile. However, understanding that turf and sand conditions often dictate the type of wedge that should be played, there are 12 different wedges in the Tricept Wedge System that allow the player to mix and match the sole width and loft that best fits their needs. The Tricept Black wedges have a sole width of .900, the Tricept Red wedges have a sole width of 1.05 and the Tricept Green wedges have a 1.20 sole width. Basically, the sole widths of the Tricept Wedges increase as the wedge lofts increase to aid in hitting the more difficult to use higher lofted wedges. However, the effective bounce angles of all the Tricept Wedges are relatively similar which allows the player to simply switch sole widths when playing under different course conditions without sacrificing the look and feel of the wedge they have devoted practice time to and have become familiar with. The Tricept wedge lofts overlap to allow a player to pick the best sole width based on the course conditions they play or fit their skill level. For example: A Tricept 56 degree wedge is available in all three sole width options, Black (for firmer sand/turf conditions and or highly skilled players), Red (for average sand/turf conditions and or low to mid handicap golfers), and Green (for loose sand and plush turf conditions and or mid to high handicap golfers). The ideal wedge set make up for most golfers regardless of skill level should include at least one moderately wide soled wedge in their golf bag. The Tricept Wedge Series solves this problem without the need to carry 2 or 3 different brands with different head shapes and effective bounce angles.

Maltby Tricept Wedge Clubhead Specifications

Maltby Tricept Wedges is rated 4.6667 out of 5 by 6.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Feel and Performance I got a good deal on some used TA900 Clevelands to augment my bag, but the low bounce produced some fat shots, and made the transition from PW feel awkward. In reading the Tricept product description, the concept of variable width soles sounded good. So, I picked up a Black 52, Red 56 and Green 60, and assembled them. Having hit them for awhile, I am really enjoying them, from subtle approach to full-wedge shots. Opening the face is no problem, produce nice spin, and the forged heads feel great. I was skeptical of getting the Black 52, wishing a Red 52 was available (I'm a 16 HC these days). However, it is easy to hit well, and the transition between lofts is seamless. I plan to enjoy these for a long time.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from great options I am a +2 handicap collegiate golfer planning on turning pro next year (2014) and I have always assembled my own clubs. Upon switching to an iron set with stronger lofts (45 degree PW) I had room for 3 additional lofted wedges and purchased the 50,56,62 heads ... put an s400 in the 50 and 56 and a rifle spinner in the 62 all with midsize lamkin crossline cord grips logo down like the rest of my clubs. After a few practice sessions and rounds dialing them in all I can say is that these are great wedges. I am more willing to shoot at pins knowing I can get up and down from anywhere with the 62 and the consistency of the ball flight with my 50 and 56 is great. Three official rounds so far with these shooting 71,68,69. Peace!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great replacement for the M Series I was VERY skeptical of these. I had played the M series for >8 years, and love them. Sand play is perhaps the best part of my game. Well, time came to replace my 56/12 and 60/6 with the 54/10 black and 60/6 green, and al I can say is wow! 5+ rounds and these are simply super i n performance and beautifl to look at. I too have had several people buy them after a swing or 2 with mine, and the reviews have been tremendous. I hope we see a whole iron set of these.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful Spinner I coupled these heads with the axe xcaliber shafts, and big wow. Incredible amount of spin! Others I golf with can't belileve it either. Also, these clubs really cut through the grass like no other. I'm going to have to get a couple other lofts to fill the gap between my p/w and 54, but outstanding clubhead, for sure.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good Wedges I purchased the "Green" version of these coupled with FST Pro shafts trimmed to Stiff flex. I have the 60 degree and the 56 degree. I have been playing with Callaway Forged Chrome with the MD grooves and C-grind which are nice but can really dig on soft lies but do put a ton of spin on the ball. The Tricept wedges have a thicker sole which I wanted which really lets me hit down and though the ball on chips and pitches and full swings without the fear of digging or fat shots. I am a 9 handicap once down to a 4 and can honestly say these are easier to hit and give me more confidence and consistency. The spin is not like the old MD grooves on the Callaway's but these have the perfect amount on all shots. I cut my shafts about a half inch shorter because I like the lighter feel on all shots and I can hit down easier on chips with the lighter feel. I can use more wrist with these due to the forgiveness which can help me add tons of spin without fear of mishitting shots. These are not consid

Rated 3 out of 5 by from non-bendable forged excellent look and feel , but these forged wedges can not be bent for loft or lie ..
Date published: 2011-02-17

Can the Lie Angle be bent to 65*? also it says the weight can be changed -3grams what do you do to do that. So if I want a 50*black wedge bent to 65* lie angle 7 -3grams can you do that and how much is it

Asked by: smmaddalena
Yes the lie angle can be adjusted to 65 degrees. The +/- 3 grams of weight is the weight tolerance from the foundry it is not adjustable. We do offer a service to hand pick for a weight other then the spec weight within the +/- 3 grams at a cost of $4.50 per club. The Lie adjustment is $4.95 per club.

Looking to replace my 52, 56 and 60 wedges. Hoped to get the Tricept wedges in 52 Red, 56 and 60 in Green. But, 52 Black is the only available 52. Afraid of fat shots with Black 52. Does wide sole compensate enough for low bounce? Am a mid-HC player.

Asked by: fergie60
I'll answer my own question. The 52 Black is easy to hit. I went to GolfWorks and ended up getting the 52 Black, 56 Red and 60 Green. I've hit them on several occasions after assembly, and am very happy with them. I've posted a review that elaborates more (review may not be up, yet).
