Maltby KE4 Forged Irons

KE4 Forged Iron Views

Finally a forged iron design targeted at mid to lower handicap players that allows for weight adjustments to made directly to the club head to accommodate numerous shaft weight and length build specs. The KE4 Forged irons come with a factory installed 6 gram weight but can accept all of the KE4 Weight Adjustable System weights for unmatched adjustability and custom fitting options.

Form Forged from 1030C Carbon Steel, the Maltby KE4 Forged irons are a Super Game Improvement “blade” iron head design featuring MG (Micro-Groove) technology. MG groove technology places more grooves on the face than a traditional iron groove layout, improving spin rate consistency.

The cavity of the KE4 Forged iron features a double under-cut flange to optimize weight distribution for improved feel and playability. A “Tour” ground leading edge, front to back sole camber and optimal sole/bounce angles for each club helps to prevent digging through the impact zone.

  • Form Forged from 1030C Carbon Steel.
  • MG groove technology.
  • Super Game Improvement playability in a “blade” profile.
  • Double under-cut cavity.
  • KE4 Weight Adjustable System accepts 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12 and 14 gram screw weights.

Maltby KE4 Forged Irons is rated 5.0 out of 5 by 12.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for my Game!! Not going to lie, at first I was extraordinarily unhappy with these as I was extremely erratic with them, but then I switched the cheap (FST) shafts to KBS C-Taper shafts and WOW what a difference!! They have become absolute gamers! Wonderful feedback, feel, and softness. You can tell they are forged. Distance control is perfect and they are playable from everywhere. Point being, the heads are money, just don't think you can pair them with any cheap shaft and get something wonderful. I paired them with some new pullouts to save a little money and the KBS are a great fit for me. They will be in my bag until the faces are worn out!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from KE4 Forged Recently had 6-GW built with TT GS95 shafts; D2 sw with standard 6gm weight. Have played 4 rounds with these so far and am not regretting the decision at all. I'm a high capper (27) with a driver ss about 88, so take what I say with a grain of salt. I'm finding these quite forgiving on off-centre strikes. Feel solid when you get it right. I'm able to get the 6 iron to land softly onto a green; for me that's about 150-155. Those shafts and the extra grooves are helping there, I think. My only gripe is the GW: it's a little on the large size, but I'm slowly warming to it for chipping close around the green. Overall, these are really great value.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worth every Penny Outstanding Clubs! Built the 6 Iron and 8 Iron with the ALDILA NV COMP 85 GRAPHITE IRON SHAFTS... I ordered the rest of the set today.. I hit Callaway's and Pings and these feel so much better.. Loved the forged feel and the slight offset look... Cannot be beat!!! I'm a 6 handicap and would build these for anyone.. Outstanding Golf Club!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from NJ Golfer Hit lots of irons. Brand names, knock offs, you name it. Coming off a set of Snake Eyes 675's, forged, nice club. But time to upgrade. Made a 6i Ke4, coupled it with a UST RV295 and Lamkin REL 3GEN midsize grip. At first I thought I wasted my money, then took it back into the shop. Little light on the toe, so I added 3 precisely cut pieces of lead tape to back side of flange at the toe so it fit nicely into the little trapezoid, and added 5 small precisely cut pieces of lead tape on the back side of the face at the toe. Have the standard 6g weight. End result, sweeeetest club I have ever hit. Draw it, fade it, does what ever I want it to. Can't go wrong with these irons, just might have to be patient and do a little tweaking.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Forgiveness and Workability! These heads are amazing in that they are both workable and easy to hit. The "thinner" top line and minimal offset allow you to shape shots but rarely lead to the wasted (poorly struck) shots a mid-handicapper like me will tend to have using a more traditional blade style iron. Still adjusting to the stronger lofts as they are a club strong for me but built them with KBS Tour Shafts Gap through 6 iron. Definitely a worthy project.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from KE4 Can't Well I put a demo 7 iron together to my specs with a FST pro 115. The name should be KE4 Can't, as in can't hit a bad shot. It was near impossible to hit a bad shot with these, high draw, soft fade, dead straight. Whatever I dialed in they responded. Thin hits were still dead straight and lost almost nothing. Feel was amazing. I currently play the F2's but these will be going into my bag very quickly

Rated 5 out of 5 by from KE4 Forged I had a 6 iron built with the FST 125 Pro shaft and what a combination. I was able to fade the ball draw the ball or hit it right down the middle. The ball rockets off the club face in my opinion and I would recommend these irons to anyone looking to improve their game. Maltby Irons are by far the best irons out on the market.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from KE4 Forged Great heads.. even at a 12 index these forged heads are great... forgiving but yet pure and long. In addtion you will not get a better value for you money. I compared both the forged and the cast KE4 and was impressed with both --but the forged gave much more feedback and still was forgiving enough for my level of play.

Hi, I am looking to build my own clubs from scratch, currently I use Taylormade Rocketblaze with stiff shafts which I find hard work, I am looking at these KE4's with a Project X 5.0 Flighted shafts as an improver what would your view be on this choice ?

Asked by: Leaky143
Without knowing more details: If you are finding that the head is "hard work", the KE4 Forged and the Rocket Bladez are fairly similar in playability. The Rocket Bladez are however, much stronger lofted then the KE4 Forged irons. This will make the long to mid irons more difficult to get airborne. If you feel the shaft is the problem, the Project X 5.0 is probably more flexible than a stock "stiff" flex shaft. A softer shaft will almost always feel better.

Do these come in left handed?

Asked by: CarlAmsden
Unfortunately no. The only LH iron set we offer is the KE4 U30.

I have a set of Cobra S2 Max clubs. What iron head would you recommend that would be a close match to the Cobra 5 Iron?

Asked by: Clipper
The MPF playability numbers from the KE4 Forged iron (MA0218) match up pretty well to the specifications of the S2 Max. The S2 Max probably has a little more offset then the KE4 Forged. Our KE4 S (MA0254) could also be a good choice and likely has more similar offset measurements. You can find the MPF Playability measurements at this link.

I'm making extra long irons. Need to remove about 11 gm per head. I can see that -4 gm obtained switching to the 2 gr plug. ?Can these be 'selected by weight' to minimize total grams when ordered? (I can drill hossel and weight back to get -6 gm.) ?

Asked by: Bill122
We can hand pick for weight, but the tolerances are relatively small and a hand pick may only yield a 1 or 2 gram savings. We do charge $4.50 for the hand pick charge. I would be cautious drilling the hosel for weight savings, especially if you plan to do any cutom bending for lie or loft. Drilling the hosel deeper than the designed depth can weaken the hosel.
