Maltby Tour Grind MG Wedges

Maltby MG Tour Grind Wedges Views

The Maltby MG Tour Grind Wedges were designed for the player that demands creativity around the greens. The sole design of the MG Tour Grind Wedges features a narrow sole with an exaggerated toe and heel Tour Grind making them the most versatile wedges ever designed under the Maltby brand. Micro Grooves (MG) have been CNC milled into the face to consistently increase spin around the greens. The Diamonized Black Metal finish is a very thin chemically implanted coating that is twice as durable as traditional nickel chrome plating and 30 times more durable PVD coatings typically found on modern black wedges. The DMB finish will not “crack” or “peel” when being bent to custom specs yet is so strong it will actually extend the sharpness and overall shape of the precision milled MG grooves vs. any other wedge finish currently available. If you desire a wedge that allows for the ultimate in consistency and creativity, the Maltby MG Tour Grind wedges are the answer!

  • Form Forged from 1025 Carbon Steel for a soft feel and easy adjustability.
  • Narrow sole width and relieved heel and toe Tour Grind for the ultimate is face angle manipulation.
  • “DBM” Diamonized Black Metal finish is a chemically implanted finish that is more wear resistant, corrosive resistant, and scratch resistant than any current carbon steel finish available.
  • “MG” groove technology (CNC milled) places more grooves on the face than traditional wedges, consistently increases ball spin on less than full shots.
  • Available in 52(8), 56(11) and 60(7) loft and bounce options.
  • Recommended ferrule – 70PI
  • Quick Ship Pak available – Page ???

Maltby Tour Grind Wedge Clubhead Specifications

Maltby Tour Grind MG Wedges is rated 3.8889 out of 5 by 9.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Butta First of all. These are the most beautiful wedges I have ever seen (all manufacturers included). I paired 52, 56 and 60 degree wedges with rifle spinner shafts with sensicore inserts. The feel, even on full swing shots is unmatched by any OEM. At Carl's Golfland, I demoed a vokey sm4, Cleveland 588, and Mizuno MP R-12 along with my Maltby MG Tour. The Maltby performed just as well as the others, but had a better feel. Perhaps due to the sensicore inserts. The grind on these wedges allow the skilled player to perform an arsenal of shots around the green. Simply put, these wedges perform just as well as any major OEM at 1/3 of the price. Put all that together, BUTTA!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Pretty good wedge at great price Although I have not had the ability to take this wedge to the course, I have had extensive practice sessions with it and can say without a doubt, the finish on this wedge is fantastic. I bought the 60-07 and love the versatility of the grind. I shafted it with the Rifle Spinner shaft and really like the soft feel on half-three quarter shots as well as fuller shots. Spin is very controllable and not over-excessive, which is great for a high spin player like myself. If the wedge performs as good on the course like it does on the short game areas, I will seriously consider the 52 or 56. I would, however, like to know whether the grooves are usga conforming or not, as I plan on playing tournaments with it next year

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Tour Grind Wedge I puchased the 56 and 60 degree wedges with spinner shafts last year and have played about 30 rounds with them. These are great wedges! I have always played Cleveland wedges and thought I would give these a try after liking the TE forged irons. The look and feel are excellent and would highly recommend them to anyone.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Wedge Probably have played close to 10 rounds with the 60 so far which is my wedge of choice under 90 or so yards. Very much exceeded my expectations. Used a True Temper DGS300 for the shaft - tipped to 8-iron flex. Basically this is the wedge flex used by most companies. Absolutely perfect balance. The grind is the best I've encountered so far. Can lay the blade totally flat, but never feel like it will excessively dig on full shots. Stopping power is great. Works good out of the sand as well. The finish is impeccable with no blemishes showing after quite a few shots. Still can't believe it only cost about $60 to build the club. I've been using Callaway X-Forged for the last 3 years or so and these are without a doubt much better. Are they as good as Vokey's? Not sure, but they meet all of my requirements. I can change the head out once a season and keep the shaft for only $35 and 5 minutes of time if the grooves get worn. Kudos to Maltby for the design.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Bought all three heads 52, 56, and 60. Put the KBS C-Taper tipped to a 4.5 frequency. I love the feel and performance. The grind allows me to pick the ball very clean on tight lie's. The bounce on the 56 degree works well in most sand. I'm very happy with the finished product.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Feel but wish they were fully adjustable Love the feel of these wedges but without them being fully forged and adjustable I cant give them a 5. I wish you made your forged wedges completely forged so they could bend at least 3*

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great feel! I have been using this wedge for about a year. It has great feel and is awesome out of the sand. A definite game changer.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not Adjustable As Advertised These are certainly sweet looking wedges. However, even thought the website and catalog advertising says they are adjustable, they are not. The head I purchased quickly broke when attempting to adjust the lie. I called the customer service line and they told me, "Oh ya, those wedges are not adjustable." I'm a long term Golfworks customer and was somewhat taken back by this curt response.

How soft are these wedges? Are they comparable to the feel or softness of the leading wedge manufacturers? Callaway, Titleist, Taylormade? I know they can only be bent 2 degrees, I'm just a little concerned they might feel like cast? Can you clarify?

Asked by: Jake1234
We will match the feel and performance of any or our wedges with any of the companies you named. If they are fit correctly, with the best shaft, grip, golf ball etc.for you, they should play and feel as good as any. It is important to understand that the material in a wedge has very little affect on the feel due to the angle of the loft and the oblique nature of the strike. Also "cast" is a process, not a material. You can cast stainless steel, carbon steel, titanium, etc. and you can forge stainless steel, carbon steel, titanium, etc. Also, the heat treatment of the material, no matter how it is manufacturerd, can have a major affect on it's softness or hardness.

What is the degree of bounce on the 52 degree tour MG wedge? What kind of grooves?

Asked by: Kenn
The bounce measurement on the 52 degree is 8 degrees. We use a U shaped groove that we call a micro groove which is narrower but allows us to put more grooves on the face.
