would it be advisable to put the pro launch blue 65R in a 3 wood. I currently have a stiff shaft and don't have the swing speed to accommodate the shaft. I am a senior golfer w 70 mph swing speed.

Asked by: Barry Todd
There would be no issues in putting a Pro Launch Blue 65R into a #3 wood. However, if your driver swing speed is 70mph I would suggest using a senior or "A" flex shaft. The ProLite HL is available in a senior flex.

I need to replace the shafts in my Taylormade V-steel 3 and 5 woods. What would be best? Some fool at the Golfmart in SF installed 45 gram Prolaunch Platinums when I ordered heavier shafts. They came with 70 gram Taylormade shafts to start.

The options of fairway specific shafts are limited. That being said, most graphite wood shafts can be trimmed for fairway woods. We have had a lot of success with the Xcaliber Fairway (AS0021) or the Xcaliber Tour Fairway (AS0025) shafts. They are both in the mid 70's for gram weight and very reasonably priced.

Is this shaft designed to play true to flex in a through bore driver head?

Asked by: just
Yes this original ProLaunch Blue was designed to play at it's listed flex when installed into a bore through.

I'm 56 years old 5'9" and have a swing speed of 84 mph, currently I have a stiff shaft on my driver and I'm not sure if it's the correct fitting for me. can you recommend what I should be using for maximum distance? Thanks.

Asked by: Rich
Obviously it is difficult to be precise in a recommendation without seeing you hit shots, but based on what you are telling me, and assuming you want to maximize distance and feel, you need to go to a Regular flex shaft in as light a weight as you can, without sacrificing feel. I am 55, and have a swing speed of 110 and use a 56 gram stiff flex. If you can use, for example, a 60 gram or less weight shaft, in a true R flex, I think you will immediately notice a difference. You want to use the lightest, longest club you can control, with the flex matched to your swing speed, to maximize distance.
