UST Mamiya Recoil 660/670/680 Irons

Finally, a revolutionary technology that will change how you think about iron shafts. UST Mamiya’s new recoil iron shafts are a game changer. In the past, heavy weight graphite iron shafts felt dead and stiff. With UST Mamiya’s exclusive recoil™ technology, we have brought feel back into the shaft, while allowing players to hit a wide range of shots that result in better distance control and pin seeking accuracy.

By positioning over 19 different layers within the shaft, we were able to create a design that outperforms the best steel shafts in the market.

  • Great feel and lightweight options to increase club head speed for greater distance
  • Lighter weights for faster club speed
  • Medium to medium high ball flight

UST Recoil Graphite Iron Shaft Specifications

UST Mamiya Recoil Irons is rated 5.0 out of 5 by 5.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Recoil iron shafts I have been building clubs for 20 years, just assembled a set of irons with 660 shafts, have to say some of the best feeling shafts I have ever assembled. Shaft loads and performs won't be disappointed, plays true to flex...

Rated 5 out of 5 by from great shaft I use these shafts the (recoil 660and 670) for re-shafting my hybrids. The weight increase, though minor) is perfect for me. My only complaint is that the 680 does not come in regular stiffness. A real good stick.

I would like to install the UST Recoil 670 F3 Regular Flex shafts on my Mizuno MX-1000 irons that have GS95 shafts. Will the UST shafts have to be tapered to install in the MX-1000 Heads? Also, will there be a change in swing weight if so, how much?

    Asked by: Shri
We would have to special order the UST Recoil 670 iron shafts to get them in a .355" taper tip and we can do that. I would expect a lighter swingweight with the Recoil shaft when assembled to the same finished length as the GS95 iron shafts. The Recoil is lighter and has a little higher balance point then the GS 95 and this will create a lighter swingweight. You would need to contact Customer Service regarding a special order for the Recoil 670 shafts. 1-800-848-8358

What graphite shaft do you recommend for my Nike Vapor Speed irons. I love the Kuro Kage silver with Tini shaft in my Nike covert tour hybrids. I have it in stiff about 80 grams. I notice however you don't sell the silver. What other shaft plays similar?

    Asked by: Golfsmith7
We do not stock the Kuro Kage TiNi shafts but can special order these shaft for you. It shows they are available in a .355" taper tip only and the Nike Vapor Speed irons use a .370" parallel tip shaft. You would need to shim the .355" taper tip shafts to fit your irons. I would make the comparison to the Aerotech Steelfiber 80 and the UST Recoil 680 as shafts that would play similar to the Kuro Kage. Both of these shafts are available in a .370" parallel tip version.

What shaft do you suggest for Titleist AP 1 710 irons in A flex ?

    Asked by: jrob
The Titleist AP 1 710 irons use a .355" taper tip shaft. The only A flex graphite iron shaft that we stock is the Aerotech Steel Fiber 70CW. If you wanted the UST Recoil shaft in an A flex we stock only the 460 and 660. We stock these only in a .370" parallel tip shaft. We can special order the 460 or 660 in an A flex with a .355" tip diameter from UST. It would be best to call Customer Service with your order at 1-800-848-8358.

    what is ts flex

    Asked by: bud z
TS flex stands for Tour S flex which means the shaft is a little stiffer then a normal S flex but not quite as stiff as an X flex.

I'm considering either the Mamiya recoil shafts of the Steelfiber shafts for my irons. Mizuno 850 Pro Forged and Taylormade Rsi 2 irons. ?What are their tip sizes respectively?

    Asked by: Gerard01
The Mizuno 850 Pro Forged irons will be .355" taper tip. The Taylor Made RSi 2 irons use a .370" parallel tip. For future reference you can find this information at this link on our web site.

Is there any UST Recoil shaft that will fit my Ping G25 irons? Would like reg or senior flex. Thanks

    Asked by: Dave from NC
The Ping G25 irons use a .355" taper tip shaft and the only Recoil shafts we stock in an R flex with a .355" taper tip are the Recoil 95 US0085. We can special order from UST any of the Recoil shafts with a .355" taper tip. So you could get the Recoil 460 or 660 in A or R or the 670 in an R flex. You would need to call Customer Service with this special order at 1-800-848-8358 and they will be glad to help you.

I'm replacing my steel shafts with 660 Recoil shafts on my set of Callaway X18 pro series clubs at local pro shop. I don't understand what "pureing" means when ordering shafts. Could you explain this term..? I'm a 12 hcp golfer.

    Asked by: terry127
In it's simplest terms, Pureing a shaft identifies the shafts most stable plane of oscillation and marks the shaft for installation so that the shaft will perform (flex) consistently throughout the swing, delivering the clubhead to impact consistently. I would suggest going to The Golfworks website, click on the SSTPure page (link is on the right of the home page) and watch the video t get a brief explanation on the process. More information can be seen on the SSTPure website at

Have 15* Adams Idea Super LS Hybrid. Is this a .370 tip? Also have a Callaway Big Bertha hybrid with a USA Mamiya 460 Recoil shaft in F3 flex. Is this an iron shaft? Can I reshaft Adams hybrid with the 460 Recoil iron shaft to match BB hybrids?

    Asked by: Tom71
Thanks for the response. Will probably use 460 iron shaft.
