Rated 5 out of 5 by from GREAT HOME CLUB TOOL! I ordered this for my own home use and it has worked really well for me. It is robust(I tore a 27-4 stainless 7 iron hosel with no damage to it) If you secure the club properly you will not damage this machine in normal use. The gauges are accurate and easy to read. I mounted it to a heavy wooden bench but it would be better to have the stand.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It's worth the money I gave this product 5 stars because it's a solid tool that allows you to bend irons. It's a good buy for someone who wants to adjust lie or loft of his own irons, or a friend's, and is patient. There is no device with this machine that gives you your starting point(s) for loft or lie, so you need a way to measure the club before you bend it. I didn't care how many degrees I was flat or upright; I just wanted to bend the irons to meet a more comfortable stance. Later I bought Golfworks' protector just to see where things were, which turned out useful because several irons I thought I'd bent had not, in reality, been changed at all. The machine secures the iron well, and the rod that comes with it is fine for bending the hosel. But-- YOU WILL WANT TO USE THE BRASS SLEEVES THAT ARE SOLD SEPARATELY, unless having marks on your hosels doesn't matter to you (it doesn't to me). For putters, follow the instructions to the letter to protect the top edge from being dented. Also, use those brass sleeves.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Love it so far I've used it for about a month now. I've only used it to bend my ridiculous number of blade style putters. I bought the vice version and it's worked great for me so far.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Economy Bending Solution If you're a do it yourselfer like me and want to be able to tweak your irons without investing in an expensive loft and lie machine that permanently occupies precious shop space this iron-clamp/vice may be the solution. The construction is heavy duty. However you do need a firmly anchored shop vice and the concerns (stated elsewhere) that it may slip out when bending loft are warranted. I solved that concern by drilling and tapping for socket head caps screws (on the vice clamp tab) that would have catch on the jaws of the vice and shear off before the unit could come loose. Another concern I had was being able to accurately measure hosel changes during the bending process. I use a cheap magnetic digital angle finder attached to the (steel) shaft just above the hosel (this wouldn't work on graphite shafts). For lie angle adjustments of low lofted irons the angle-finder read out is almost 1:1 but as the loft of the iron increases the required tweak must be calculated (the trigonometry is simple to deduce). Of course the final loft/lie measurements are made with the iron out of the device. Overall I'm quite happy with the purchase and my newly bent irons.

How does the leveling block work for a putter, in this vise? ?Is there a video, or pictures to view? Thanks, Adam

    Asked by: Adam
The leveling block fits into the machine right under the sole of the putter. It has an angle cut to match up to the angle that is cut into the machine so that when a putter is clamped it will sit flat on the sole. At this link for the GAM bending machine we used to sell you can see picture of how the leveling block works. The GAM is the same clamping unit as the VAM.

According to the catalog and the web page, the putter leveling block is included in the price of the bending machine (VAM), but checkout shows a charge of $29.99. ?Will you confirm I'll only be charged $149.99 for item VAM and item PBLP?

    Asked by: Paul
The putter bending block is included with the price of the VAM. The reason it shows up at this link is for someone who may need to order a replacement. You just need to put 1 in the box for the Value Line Golf Club Machine. That includes the putter bending block.

Do the brass hosel protectors prevent damage to the head as well? ?Do you need a set for each iron you bend, or do they last a while? ?Thank you.?

    Asked by: Barkey
The Brass Hosel Protectors protect the hosel only. You put the Brass Hosel Protector over the hosel before using the bending bar to protect the hosel. The Brass Hosel Protectors can be used again and again and can last a long time. You do not need a separate Brass Hosel Protector for each club.

Can you bend hybrids with this machine? Thank you

    Asked by: Chieflongtee
No we would not recommend trying to adjust hybrids with the VAM bending machine. The clamping system with this machine would do damage to a hybrid.

I bought this bender used with no instructions, is there an instruction manual avaliable?

    Asked by: Slider
The VAM Bending Machine that you purchased has the same clamping system that we used in our older GAM bending machine. The instructions at this link have step by step photo instructions of how the club is mounter into this machine which should help you. One thing you will want to do is rotate the VAM in your vise when adjusting loft so that your bending pressure is working in line with the vise.

Does this machine come with measuring devices to let you know what the loft and lies of the clubs are before and after you adjust them?

    Asked by: Frank625
No the VAM does not take any measurements to let you know how much you have changed the loft or lie angles. You would need a Golf Club Specification gauge to take those measurement.
