Rated 5 out of 5 by from Holding fast... What a pleasant surprise to find I can still order an exact match for the Golf Pride Tour Velvet grip I ordered several years ago-- maybe as many as five. I need one more to make up a set of two hybrid long irons, and they are still to be had. Wonderful!!

KBS C Taper 600 or 580?

Asked by: CMAC
C-taper shafts are a .600" butt diameter.

I have a set of like 1990 Yonex CARBONEX ll woods and I need to regrip them. The grips on the clubs are very thin rubber and I need similar grips. I do not want to compromise feel and swingweight. I was told by yonex GP velvet would be close. Agree?

Asked by: Webber
If I am remembering correctly these shafts have a 1" butt diameter and there were special grips that had to be used with these clubs. Those grips are no longer made. A Golf Pride Tour Velvet may not install over the butt end of this shaft and if it does your grips are going to be oversize by approximately 3/64". We do have Tacki Mac grips for the Taylor Made Bubble shafts that had a .810" butt diameter that will work better with these shafts. The order code for the Bubble grip is AV0019DK. You will need to call in this order as these grips are not listed on our web site. You will also likely need a Big Butt Grip Installer Tool (BBGIT) to install these grips over the 1" butt diameter shafts.

Does the Tour Velvet Grip "Golf Pride" come in the .600 - 50grams mid side grip? And if they do what colors? I have on my clubs now the .580 - 52grams standard which I have had now on my clubs for about five years now and would like to go lighter.

Asked by: 2 putt
The Golf Pride Tour Velvet Mid Size grip is a .600" core size grip that weights 53.5 grams. It is a black grip with white paint fill and does not come in any other colors. You can see the specifications in the box at the bottom of the page at this link.

Trying to salvage one more year out of some older clubs. MacGregor Iron Master irons with graphite shafts. Mazuno Tour XP woods. Need to know .580 or .600. Thanks!

Asked by: Danny S
The Mizuno Tour XP woods should be .600" and educated guess says the MacGregor Iron Master Irons will also be .600" butt diameter. Grips are coded at the bottom inside edge of the grip. You can roll back the bottom edge of the grip and you should be able to see the code, such as M58 or M60 and it could be M58R or M60R to indicate it is a round grip. Without the R at the end of the code it would be a ribbed grip.

What is the net effect between using .580 core grips and .600 core grip?

Asked by: OCRon
The .580" core size grip installed on a .580" butt diameter shaft will produce a standard size grip, .900". The .600" core size grip installed on a .600" butt diameter shaft will produce a standard size grip, .900". The outside diameter of the .580" and .600" core size grip is the same. The hole on the inside of the .580" core size grip is smaller. If you install the .580" core size grip on a .600" butt diameter shaft you will get a + 1/64" oversize grip, .915".

What is the Rnd and Rib within the descriptions

Asked by: ScottVT
Round indicates the iside core is completely round. Ribbed indiates there is a flat area or rib that runs the length of the grip on the back side. The rib is preferred by some players and provides a raised area on the back of the grip to help with hand placement and security during the swing.
