XCaliber Shaft Specifications

AXE XCaliber Tour SL Graphite Iron Shaft is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 2.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great looking shafts Re-shafted a set of speed-blade irons and got rid of the velox shafts that came in them. I highly recommend this shaft, increased distance and accuracy and very pleased with my purchase.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from lack of quality control I have purchased 7 of these shafts and had to send 2 back because the tips were much larger than 0370 that was expected.

I have golf clubs that are quite old and use over-the-hose shafts.  Is it possible to replace any of these shafts? If so, which would be most appropriate? For nostalgic reasons, I would rather keep them than replace if possible.

Asked by: Newbie
No, shafts for the older over the hosel irons designs have not been manufactured for a number of years now. These irons designs used a .390" tip size steel shaft to fit over the post and steel shafts were the only option with these iron designs.

Have a set of Maltby TE irons with AXE Tour SL shafts in "A" flex. I've lost the 9 iron and need to order another head and shaft as replacements. Is the AXE Tour SL shaft no longer available in "A" flex? (Your website shows only R and S flexes).

Asked by: RobbieInRaleigh
Yes the Xcaliber Tour SL and all of the Xcaliber shafts have been discontinued and we no longer have any A flex shafts in stock. I would suggest our MPF Series Iron shaft in an A flex (MA0251) as a good replacement for the Tour SL A flex.

What iron shaft can I use with similar characteristics as the 2011 axe Excalibur red and silver iron shaft ? They are Reg flex and work perfect with my swing speed.    Thanks.

Asked by: Tob57
Sorry the MPF Series shaft is a good replacement for the standard Red Xcaliber shaft. For the Tour SL Xcaliber I would use the Fujikura Vista Pro 65 iron shaft (FK0088) or the UST Recoil 660 (US0072) or Recoil 760ES (US0099).

for irons made the same length do you tip trim them all the same ??

Asked by: skip
If all the head weights are the same, which they should be for a single length set of irons, you would trim all the shafts the same.

is the paderson kinetixx ts1 370 iron shaft a better shaft then axe xcaliber tour sl ??

Asked by: skip
Both are very good shafts. The Paderson shafts are new and we have not had as much feedback on these shafts as we have with the Xcaliber Tour SL. We have done very well with the Tour SL shafts. The Paderson TS-I shafts are heavier then the Tour SL and trajectories in similar flexes will be fairly similar.

I have a set of TM tour burner irons with reg/graphite shafts. I also have a set of TM rocketbladz with stiff steel. I would like to switch to graphite. I hit my 7 iron 175 with steel. I have not played the tour burners so cannot give accurate info

Asked by: Moosch
If you hit your 7 iron 175 yards you would still most likely want a stiff flex. The standard Rocketbladz irons take a .370 tip shaft. If they are the RB Tour irons, a .355 taper tip shaft would be needed. There are a lot of options for you to choose from. Aerotech makes a tour proven product, and the UST Recoil product has been very popular. We have had great success with the Paderson Kinetixx product as well as Xcaliber graphite iron shafts. Difficult to narrow down beyond the flex based on the information given. It may be necessary to test a few different weights of shafts in your flex to determine the best option.
