have an old callaway x fairway wood that am replacing a stiff flex shaft with regular flex. local club repair guy said adapter for 350 tip not available and is putting in 335 tip with adapter. Does this sound correct or trying unload older midline shaft?

Asked by: JerryD
CSS is the adaptor for installing the .350" tip size shaft into the X fairway wood. The BB9002 adaptor is for installing the .335" tip shaft. We have both of these adaptors available. https://www.golfworks.com/callaway-350-shaft-adaptor/p/CSS/ https://www.golfworks.com/callaway-335-shaft-adaptor/p/BB9002/ There are not many .350" tip size shafts available. The Aldila NV and NVS are the only .350" tip size wood shafts that we stock these days.

Trying to figure which adapter I need: I have Steelhead III heads that currently have 0.350 tipped shafts. I want to replace the shafts with 0.335 versions. Which adapter should I get? I will need to order 3 (three). Thanks

Asked by: Chris S
For the Steelhead III you need the BB9002 adaptor for installing a .335" shaft into this .350" hosel bore. https://www.golfworks.com/callaway-335-shaft-adaptor/p/BB9002/

We do not have a Opti-Fit shaft adaptor for the Callaway XR driver that will use a .350" tip size shaft and I am not aware of anyone who makes one.

What is the outside diameter of the parallel portion of this adapter? I need 0.43" for a Callaway X hybrid with a 0.350" through bore and 0.43" on the large bore part.

Asked by: Oculos
With the Callaway bore through X hybrid if you are installing a .335" tip diameter shaft you will need the BB9002 adapter and if you are installing a .350" tip diameter shaft you will need the CSS adapter. These are the correct adapters for the X Hybrid. http://www.golfworks.com/callaway-335-shaft-adaptor/p/BB9002/ http://www.golfworks.com/callaway-350-shaft-adaptor/p/CSS/

I'm new to all these adjustable drivers, I just wanted to know what the different shaft adaptor number numbers meant and how the difference would affect my driving?

Asked by: kcywatkins
The various manufactures all have their own shaft adapters and the numbers mean different amounts on different drivers. For the most part the adapters change the face angle. Someone who slices the ball would set the adaptor for a closed face angle and generally there are a couple of setting to vary the amount of that closed face angle. Someone who hooks the ball could use the open face angle settings to help control their hook. Some adapters also allow for loft adjustments so if you have a 10.5 degree loft but need a little more loft you can change the setting to create more loft or the same if you need less loft. You would have to go to the various manufactures web sites to find information regarding their particular adapters. Here is a link from our web site for the shaft adapters we sell for our KE4 ST-2A and KE4 ST-1A drivers. http://www.golfworks.com/images/art/MA0227W.pdf
