this jig has a label on the plate with lines to help square the putter face but the label also states, "zero line indicates center line bore". What does this mean and how does one use it? and whats the proper way to use this jig? Thanks in advance

In the case of the putter the zero line does not get used that much. We also use this same sticker on another gauge and the zero line represents the center line of the hosel of an iron or wood. It can be used to measure face progression and hosel offset. Here is a link for the instructions for our Value Line Golf Club Gauge, which also uses this sticker, and you can read the instructions on measuring face progression and hosel offset. You could also do these measurements with an iron or wood with this gauge.

Is the plate and rubber feet strong enough to use as a tapping plate?  And when I say tapping, I mean ramming a shaft tip down onto it while it sits on the floor? I would use it to ram homemade pieces of lead that don't necessarily fit perfect : ) Thanks

Actually we sell a Steel Assembly Plate (SAP) just for the purpose you are needing it for. You will have to call in the order. We do not have them on the web site or in the catalog. I believe the price is $6.36.

The previous  answer doesn't  really tell me where to position  the head relative to the measurements on the base nor how to set the angle of the arm that holds the clamp.    Could someone please clarify ?

You want to square the putter face by lining them up with the lines on the base. Which line will vary depending on the amount of offset in the shaft being used and where the shaft is positioned in the clubhead. The measurements can be used to read the amount of offset in a putter. Offset with a double bend putter shaft is measured from the leading edge of the putter shaft to the leading edge of the putter face.

Does this come with complete instructions on how to achieve proper offset and loft & lie with this fixture ?

Asked by: Smitty
The GW 1024 is a basic clamp that allows you to square the face while installing a double bend shaft. If the face is square when the shaft is installed, the loft of the club will be whatever the loft of the head is. The lie and the offset is determined by the bend in the shaft. If the shaft is installed correctly, with the face square, the lie will be the designed lie of the shaft and the offset will be the designed offset of the shaft.
