Graphite Design G Series Graphite Hybrid Shaft

The G Series hybrid shaft with X Directional Technology (XDT) is the next generation of premium Graphite Design shafts and is designed to be very adaptable to today’s vast hybrid head technology. The G Series hybrid shaft performance characteristics favor a mid-high launch trajectory and mid ball spin and are available in 85 grams in Regular, Stiff and X-Stiff flexes and 95 grams in Stiff and X-Stiff flexes. The new X Directional Technology (XDT) incorporates the use of the already proven Graphite Design MSI (Material Stiffness Integration) design method as well this new and unique application of graphite fiber alignment throughout the shaft structure known as (XDT). During the development phase of (XDT), measurable performance gains were discovered through a more balanced distribution of the graphite fibers within the plies of the shaft design. This proprietary application of (XDT) has made the new G series line of golf shafts the most balanced and versatile high performance golf shaft available today.

Taylor made 5 wood. Was flex broke.  Want stiffer shaft

Asked by: Dave
To make a proper shaft recommendation I would need to know which model Taylor Made 5 wood you have. The different model Taylor Made woods used different tip size shafts.

So I am looking for a shaft to fit the Maltby KE4 Tour HDI head, which is more like an iron than a wood. hould I put an iron shaft in it (Recoil 95 or 110 are contenders), or do I need to use a hybrid shaft? And can you get the G Series 95g hybrid shaft?

Asked by: Dave in DC
You can use an iron shaft into the HDI hybrid irons. If you use the Recoil 95 or 110 you will need to shim the .355" taper tip shaft to properly fit the .370" hosel bore. Our SHIMT works well for this assembly. We should be able to special order the G Series 95 Hybrid shaft. You will need to contact Customer Service at 1-800-848-8358 or by email at and they can help you with this.

The current shaft on my Callaway Fusion 21 deg hybrid is 39". So would I have to trim 2.5" off the butt of this shaft, and .5" off the tip ? Or is that too much trimming for this shaft ?

Asked by: Thom
Hey Jim, the original shaft is definitely .370" or 9.4 mm, so could you respond to my original question about the trimming.

I have a Callaway Diablo Edge 6.hybrid ... shoulder operation and I need all the mid iron help I can get..would like to reshaft with this it appropriate ? Thanks! Clubhead speed is fine 97 mph driver but cant "dig" into hard turf etc...

Asked by: egdew rich
The Graphite Design G Series Hybrid is a very good shaft and certainly could help dampen some vibration in your shoulder. Another very good hybrid shaft that we get very good feedback from is the Xcaliber Hybrid (AS0022). Which ever ball flight characteristics fit you needs best could work well.

Hello Ive got graph design tour 85R in my hybrids 21 & 23 deg. I love the shaft (8h'cap, 6iron SS 75 mph, driver SS 95mph). Ive got a 'fourteen' make 2 iron head and want to find an appropriate shaft for it. Would this work? Irons are KBS TOUR R+. Thanks.

Asked by: any1ablue
Yes a Hybrid shaft like the Graphite Design hybrid shaft could be used in an iron. One problem you might have here is the hosel bore size of the Fourteen #2 iron you have. I do not know if they use a .355" taper tip or .370" parallel tip hosel bore. The Graphite Design Hybrid shaft is a .370" parallel tip and if Fourteen uses a .355" taper tip bore this shaft will not fit.

The trim instructions for the Graphite Design G Series Graphite Hybrid Shaft on Graphite Design's website is different than what's on The Golfworks website. For ex...27+ hybrid they recommend trim 1 inch recommend 1.5 inches. Please explain.

Sorry that is our mistake. We had it correct in our 2014 Catalog but it somehow got changed in the 2015 Catalog. It should be 1" as listed on their web site. We will get that corrected.
