Graphite Design Shaft Specifications

Graphite Design G-Series Graphite Wood Shafts is rated 5.0 out of 5 by 3.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from ligher and increased flex needed for seniors The G series 40 lite is the best driver shaft on the market for seniors. I hit the ball straighter and longer with less effort. The only question left is which driver head will give me more distance off the tee.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Dead Accurate I have installed this shaft in many drivers and fairway woods of my clients. I've used GD shafts for well over a decade in my business and the GD 40, 50, 60 series is the best shaft for the dollar on the market.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Slice Fighter! This shaft, due to high torque, helps keep the slice in check off the tee. I put the G40 shaft in any new driver I buy. Great shaft!

you suggested a G 40R flex for SS80 and smooth tempo. What would you suggest for 4FW and 7W G50 or 60? thanks in advance

Asked by: gcpt
That becomes a fitting preference. You could also use the 40 gram weight shaft in your 4 and 7 woods. A lot of players prefer to have a little heavier weight shaft in their fairways woods to give them a little more control but if I am trying to gain distance and with a slower swingspeed the 40R cold be a good choice in the fairway woods as well.

trying to decide between G series and YS6 for Driver and4 wood. SS 80 Driver. Smooth tempo. Any help is appreciated.

Asked by: gcpt
If you are looking at the G Series 40 in an R flex at 50 grams could work well for you 80 mph driver swingspeed with a smooth tempo. It could give you a little more clubhead speed then the YS6+. The YS6+ R flex does test stiffer then the G-Series 40 R flex. The G-Series 40 does test a little more flexible then normal.

I have a Bobby Jones Jessie Ortiz driver that had a Graphite Design G40 S shaft. It needs a shaft replacement and Bobby Jones indicates that it has a .370 tip. Can you cut the tip to .370 and can you replace it. What would be the total cost?

Asked by: Bob
We do not stock any .370" tip diameter wood shafts and a .335" shaft cannot be cut to a .370" size. The .370" tip size G40 Graphite Design shaft would have been manufactured exclusively for the Bobby Jones driver. You would have to send the driver to them or get the shaft from them. We have nothing that will fit this driver.

What is pureing?

Asked by: Eddie
There is no such thing as a perfectly round perfectly straight golf shaft. SST Puring is a test that find the shafts most stable plane of oscillation so that when the shaft is installed it will play as if it is perfectly round and perfectly straight. You can see more about shaft puring at the SST Pure web site at this link. http://sstpure.com/

Is your G Series40 with a 49-52 gram weight available in a R- shaft with low torque?

Asked by: Wayne
No Graphite Design does not manufacture the G Series 40 with a low torque. To make shafts in this weight range the manufactures have to use stronger carbon fiber materials to maintain structural strength so they design them with higher torque to keep them from playing to stiff and feeling to stiff. So far most of the shafts in this weight range have been designed with slower swingspeed players in mind. GolfWorks Canada still has some Xcaliber SWD50 wood shafts in stock. The R flex is listed as 4.9 degrees but this is one of the stiffest tip shafts that we have ever tested. It will play a little stiffer then normal and is a very stable shaft. It is a 49 gram weight shaft. https://www.golfworks.ca/axe-xcaliber-tour-swd50-graphite-wood-shaft/p/AS0033/

will the g40 shafts fit on my Taylormade 3 and 5 woods. Is it the same as my g40 driver shaft or do I have to order a different shaft?

Asked by: Paul
We would need to know the exact model of Taylor Made Fairway wood to be sure. Most of the Taylor Mades do take a .335 tip shaft, so it should work, but again, would need to know the model to be sure. It is the same shaft as is used for the driver. You would simply trim it differently for the #3 wood and #5 wood. The trim would 1/2" from the tip for the 3, and 1" from the tip for 5, then trim to the final playing lengths from the butt end.
