Trimming Instructions

Graphite Design YS 7+ Graphite Wood Shafts is rated 5.0 out of 5 by 3.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from sasquatch tour demoed a sasquatch tour 9.5 with this shaft at a local shops simulator and loved the distance but more importantly the control. I was using the stiff model with a ss of 105 according to maltby playability I could probably go to an X but the stiff seemed to work phenomanal. Distance was 270+ but the control was the most impressive I felt I could go at it as hard as I could and I wouldn't slice it if anything the higher my ss the more a draw started to appear. I plan on using this shaft for a new square head driver I wanna build. It probably also makes a great fwy wood shaft also

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Smooth The reason this shaft is still made is that it performs. Some what stiffer butt soft tip profile without producing an overly high ball flight. Can handle high swing speeds for a medium trajectory without too much spin. Great product.

I want to put this shaft in a Ping G series sft driver.  Do I need a 335 or 350 tip? Can this be purchased with the shaft adapter on it?  If not what  is recommended trimming on the tip?  I want a stiff flex.  Thank you.

Asked by: Bob
The Ping G SFT driver uses a .335" tip diameter shaft. Yes you can purchase the shaft and shaft adaptor and have the adaptor installed. For the Ping G you will need the PGC002 shaft adaptor. http://www.golfworks.com/ping-g30-series-shaft-adaptor/p/PGC002/

If i do not tip trim to make a the 3 wood, is the flex will come as firm flex Thanks

Asked by: Bob 2507
If you are starting with an S flex and the recommended tip trimming for the 3 wood is 1.5". If you do not tip trim the shaft at all you will actually would end up a little more flexible then a standard R flex. A general rule of thumb with graphite shafts is 1" is equal to a change of flex. So if you start with the S flex and only tip trim 1" instead of 1.5" you will end up with a firm flex between R and S flex.

Hello, would this shaft be ideal for a 3 wood as well? Approx 100mph swing speed. Mainly looking for this upgrade to match weights of shaft in my Driver and 5 wood. Thanks

Asked by: Tony
Yes the YS7+ could make a very good 3 wood shaft. The S flex for the 100 mph swingspeed should be a good fit.

If the YS 7+ was not tipped, and used in a driver - how would the shaft play in terms of stiffness and launch? Thanks!

Asked by: Leftee22
1" would be equal to a change of flex. So if you were using an S flex and did not tip trim it would play like an R flex.

I would like to put this shaft(79 g xstiff) in my cally xr 16 pro 3 wood and possibly the driver as well. Is this possible and do you have cally tips for the xr16 pro driver? Thank you!

Asked by: Rooster
Yes that is possible and you would need the CA0020 Callaway Opti-Fit shaft adapter. http://www.golfworks.com/callaway-advanced-opti-force-shaft-adaptor/p/CA0020/

Asked by: Lmatteo
The recommended tip trimming for a 3 wood (15 degrees) would be 1" from the tip.

Will  YS7 .335 fit mt Aero Burner 3 wood

Asked by: Abby
Taylor Made tells me the stock AeroBurner 3 wood uses a .350" tip diameter shaft and the AeroBurner TP 3 wood uses a .335" tip diameter shaft. You would need to shim the YS 7+ shaft to fit the stock AeroBurner 3 wood. You could use our SHIM15 or Universal Plastic Shim for this installation. http://www.golfworks.com/product.asp_Q_pn_E_SHIM http://www.golfworks.com/product.asp?pn=BB9018

If I am installing a Graphite Design YS-7+ X .335 shaft in a 19 degree Hybrid...how much do i trim from the tip??

Asked by: Timbo
Graphite Designs recommended trimming instructions say 1" max for the YS7+. The shaft has a 4" parallel tip section and knowing that most 19 degree hybrids are in the 230 to 235 gram weight range I would probably tip trim as much as 2" to maintain the X flex in a hybrid.
