KBS Tour 90 Taper Tip Steel Iron Shaft Specifications

KBS Tour 90 Taper Tip Steel Iron Shafts is rated 5.0 out of 5 by 10.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from unbelieveable performance had these shafts installed on my new taylormade tour preferred irons in regular and I cant believe how much distance I have gained. I am 65 and have been playing over 50+ years and was considering graphite until I tried these. I have added 10-15 yards and they are practically point and shoot for me. I also had winngrip lite midsize and the feel and feedback is the best I have had since hitting my forged macgregors many years ago. I can also control the height of my shots with these shafts by flattening my down swing a bit. this is an added feature and you better players will appreciate this.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from KBS delivers These shafts do everything claimed for them. Replaced DGSL and achieved lower total weights and swingweights reduced by a point in long irons while increasing length. Best of all smooth controlled feel. They inspire confidence particularly in long irons.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from great performing shaft I was fitted recently for a set of Mizuno JPX 850 cast irons. After trying 3 different recommended shafts, the shaft that gave me optimum performance was the KBS Tour shaft. The only problem was that it was too heavy for me at 110 grams. So I reshafted my 2 wedges and 9 iron with the KBS Tour 90 shaft which has the same characteristics as the Tour shaft but 20 grams lighter. I'm glad I did, easier to swing for a 63 year old and my shot dispersion is a lot tighter. I recommend this shaft.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Shaft These KBS 90 Shafts are the best investment that I have made in a shaft. With the light weight I get 10 to 15 more yards of distant. I recommend these shaft to anyone who wants more distance in there golf game.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from KBS C Taper 90 lite shafts These shafts are a great addition to the KBS products. Lighter than the standard C Taper, they perform as well, and allow for an increase in swing speed. Hitting your target is easy with these shafts.

I was recently told that I need iron shafts that are 290 CPM in flex. That is supposed to be a more accurate way of measuring flex. Can you tell me how much soft stepping I need to do? KBS only measures in FCM.

Asked by: Tom
Did they tell you 290 CPM for all the irons or a specific number iron like a 5 iron. With KBS shafts you would not have the same frequency number for each club number. The frequency number progresses from lower in the longest irons to higher in the shortest irons. I would need more information as to which club they were referring to having the 290 cpm's in order to try and answer your question.

What is the raw weight of the KBS 90 .355 in R flex? It is not listed. Also how do they play compared to the XP95 shafts in terms of ball flight and shaft flex, etc.?

Asked by: Tom
The KBS Tour 90 R flex .355" taper tip shaft weights 95 grams. At this link if you scroll down the page you will see the specifications box for these shafts and the weights are listed. https://www.golfworks.com/kbs-tour-90-taper-tip-steel-iron-shafts/p/FS0023/ The KBS Tour 90 is designed to create a mid/high trajectory and the XP95 is designed to create a high trajectory. The shaft flexes are fairly true to flex in both shafts.

The shortest shaft is 37.5”, the same length as my 6 Iron. Want to replace some shafts myself, but confused about length. Do the shafts get cut down? Do they have to be cut down? Why make them longer just to cut them down?

Asked by: Michael456
Shafts are made to longer raw lengths to accommodate different clubhead hosel designs, such as an older Callaway bore through. They are also made longer to accommodate longer length clubs for those players who need longer length clubs. You will install these shafts and cut from the butt end to your finished length. If you do not install the recommended shaft into the proper club number you will be changing the flex of the shaft. Remember that unless your irons are Callaway bore through design your clubhead will add to the finished length of the club. If your 6 iron is 37.5" the shaft is in the 36.5" to 36.75" long with most clubhead designs.

i have a titelist ap1 5 iron - KBS 90 REG shaft - please educate me on tipping and cutting the shaft - I would like to have it ready for me when delivered & I assume letting you prep it is the best way to proceed?

Asked by: MAC
You would order the FS0023 R flex shaft listed for the 5 iron. You will simply sand the tip of the shaft and install it into your AP1 5 iron and butt cut to the finished length for your 5 iron. We can also prep the shaft for you. It is best to call Customer Service at 1-800-848-8358 so that they can get all the correct specifications for you 5 iron.

How does the tour 90 compare with the Nippon 950 in terms of tip stiffness ,height? thanks.

Asked by: gcpt
They are both listed for a mid/high trajectory but our profile data shows the Tour 90 to be the stiffer shaft both in tip stiffness and overall stiffness. The stiffer shaft will flight the ball lower then the more flexible shaft.

is the fs0023 the same as the kbs tour 90 wedge shaft in the callaway sure out wedge? is the fs0024 the same specs and play/feel as the fs0023. I would like to install in the sti-sw or should i use the fs0023 with a shim?

Asked by: rick
Yes the KBS Tour 90 would be the same shaft Callaway is using in the Sure-Out wedge. I assume they are using the FS0023 .355" taper tip shaft in this wedge. You could use the FS0024 shaft in the STi SW. The shafts two shafts would play similar.
