Lead Counterweights for Steel Shafts

These handy lead counterweights are the perfect tool for counterbalancing over length or heavy golf clubs to achieve uniform swing weights. Counterbalance weights are available in 8, 12, 16, 20, 24 and 28 gram weight options for steel golf shafts. A plastic cap is also available to ensure exact club lengths when not inserting counterweights into the entire set.

Lead Counterweights for Steel Shafts is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 3.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Weigh the Weights!!! I just bought these counterweights and they slip nicely into the butt end of a steel golf shaft, and epoxied in place they will do their job. But, there is a but... I ordered five different weights: 12, 16, 20, 24, and 28. Four of the weights weighed LESS than their respective spec weight. The 12 weighed 10, the 16 weighed 14, the 20 weighed 18, and the 28 weighed 26. Only the 24 weighed 24g. I should have weighed the weights, but never figured they would be off 7-17%. Weigh them before you start your job, so you do not have to repeat the re-gripping = expensive.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy Price is definitely righteous. Easy to install. Do what they're supposed to. 'Nuff said.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works great, order a bit heavier than you need. These work great. I did have to file around the weight to get it to fit into the shaft and lost 1.5 - 2 grams of lead, so you might want to order a weight that's a few grams heavier than you need. I didn't even bother to epoxy the weight--the weight fit snugly in the shaft after filing, the weight lip fits on the top of the shaft to keep it from falling down the shaft, and the grip holds it in place.

Are these to use for swing weights for iorn shafts

Asked by: Fudge
The CW weights (CW8, CW12, etc.) are to be used if you want to counter weight or counter balance clubs. These go into the but end of the shaft and will lighten the overall swingweight of clubs. Tip weights in brass or lead are also available on our website for adjusting head weights. https://www.golfworks.com/brass-tip-weight-plugs/p/SITW2/ https://www.golfworks.com/lead-shaft-tip-weights/p/GW0105/

What size is the hole in the center of the weight? I am looking for weights with 9/16 inch holes

Asked by: Whitewhale
The hole measures .20". They are lead so they can be drilled out to a larger size.

im not sure what benefit counterbalanceing does ? i like the feel of the clubhead

Asked by: bill
If you like to feel the clubhead then counterbalancing will not do anything for you. It could even work against you. Years ago I had an old persimmon driver that had a heavier clubhead and the swingweight was coming up in a D5 range. I used lead tape as part of my grip build up tape and brought the swingweight down to D2. When I was younger I could hook the ball pretty bad at times. With the counterbalance in that driver my hooking problem when away. For me being older and not as strong counterbalancing does nothing for me these days. It is always something we have to be willing to experiment with. There are a lot of players counterbalancing putters.

Do the caps fit inside or outside the shaft? How much do they add to the shaft OD and the overall length of the club?

Asked by: blipnitz
I ordered some, so I'll answer my own question in a different way. They are about the same size and shape as the 12 g weights, less than 3/8" long, with a weight of approximately 1.5 g. They are sized to fit inside a shaft not less than about 0.55".

Will these fit in KBS Tour Parallel shafts? Would you recommend putting the same counter weight in the irons and wedges or difference? THanks

Asked by: Golfer007
Yes the CWC weights will fit in the butt end of the KBS Tour shafts, both parallel and taper tip versions. Generally you would put the same amount of weight in each club but that can be a fitting preference and the only way you will know if different weight will work better is to be willing to experiment.

What diameter are they. I need a weight that fits tapper tips shafts

Asked by: DCM
If you are looking for tip weights to swingweight taper tip irons use the .335" weights for woods (GW0105). I have used them in taper tip shafts and they work well. http://www.golfworks.com/lead-shaft-tip-weights/p/GW0105/ These counter balance weights (CWC) will fit a .580" or .600" butt diameter shaft.

Hello. I have TT Dynamic Gold Lite shafts which have a 0.61 or 0.62" butt diameter. Do you have counterweights that work with these shafts?

Asked by: Jbird
The GolfWorks lead counterweights will work. You can either dimple the soft lead weights using a punch or simply apply masking tape layers around them until they fit snug enough to epoxy in place. http://www.golfworks.com/lead-counterweights-for-steel-shafts/p/CWC/
