Lead Counterweights for Steel Shafts

These handy lead counterweights are the perfect tool for counterbalancing over length or heavy golf clubs to achieve uniform swing weights. Counterbalance weights are available in 8, 12, 16, 20, 24 and 28 gram weight options for steel golf shafts. A plastic cap is also available to ensure exact club lengths when not inserting counterweights into the entire set.

Lead Counterweights for Steel Shafts is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 4.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Weigh the Weights!!! I just bought these counterweights and they slip nicely into the butt end of a steel golf shaft, and epoxied in place they will do their job. But, there is a but... I ordered five different weights: 12, 16, 20, 24, and 28. Four of the weights weighed LESS than their respective spec weight. The 12 weighed 10, the 16 weighed 14, the 20 weighed 18, and the 28 weighed 26. Only the 24 weighed 24g. I should have weighed the weights, but never figured they would be off 7-17%. Weigh them before you start your job, so you do not have to repeat the re-gripping = expensive.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works great, order a bit heavier than you need. These work great. I did have to file around the weight to get it to fit into the shaft and lost 1.5 - 2 grams of lead, so you might want to order a weight that's a few grams heavier than you need. I didn't even bother to epoxy the weight--the weight fit snugly in the shaft after filing, the weight lip fits on the top of the shaft to keep it from falling down the shaft, and the grip holds it in place.

I have a set of Irons that my PW is coming in at a swing weight of D5 and I want to bring it down to D3. How many grams of weight do I need to add to the butt of the shaft ? What Counterweights should I buy?

Asked by: Tzoid
You would need to add 8 grams of counter weight to bring the D5 swingweight down to D3. It takes 4 grams of weight at the butt end to lighten the club 1 swingweight.

How does this product compare to the tour lock products? I have the original tour lock plugs and was looking into the newer tour locks installed before the grip. These products would save quite a bit of cash. Let me know!

Asked by: K9searing
The CWC weights do the same thing as the Tour Lock Pro Counter Plug weights in that it adds weight to the butt end of the shaft. The CWC weights are sized to fit steel shafts and will not fit graphite shafts. The Tour Locks can be used in steel or graphite. We recommend epoxying the CWC weights in the butt end of the shaft to secure them. They do not fit snug or tight like the Tour Lock weights.

Do u just slide the weights in the butt end and re-grip

Asked by: Dragon
We would recommend epoxing the weights in the butt end of the shaft and then installing the grips. The weights do not fit tight and they could rotate if not epoxied in place.

Which is the size? Are this counterweight fit well into the butt .600 of 355 dynamic gold?

Asked by: Leonard
The CW weights will fit in the butt end of a .600" or .580" steel shaft. Yes they will fit in the butt end of a .355" taper tip Dynamic Gold shaft.

Can i remove 4 grams into the hosel of club head with the drill!?  consider .355 taper shaft Which better thing to do into the hosel if possibile...?  Can i Open the hosel until 370 and use the Shim or better drill  small hole deep inside the hosel

Asked by: Leonard
It is not likely that you will remove 4 grams of weight by drilling down into the iron hosel. If you drill to deep it could create a structural problem and the irons hosels could bend when you hit them. It depends on how big the hole is and how deep you drill. Drilling a small diameter hole will likely not get you enough weight. Changing the hosel bore from .355" taper to .370" parallel will get you no more then 2 grams.

Will these fit in KBS Tour 90 shafts? The ID on them is: .355 & Need to install them in the Tip's of my iron's, in order to increase the head swingweight My set is now D1. What Gram weight would I need to purchase, to get complete set 4-PW to D3?

Asked by: DJ Squid
You can also use lead power and a cork in the shaft of the club. It will do the exact same thing and you can break the cork and remove it if you find a D3 swing weight to heavy. The advantage of going this route is that you will not have to disassemble the club if it is to heavy.
