Maltby KE4 Tour HDI Hybrid Views

The new and improved Maltby KE4 Tour HDI hybrid design is probably closer to what a real hybrid should be vs. hybrid designs that are more influenced by metal wood shapes. With a low and deep center of gravity, a progressive wide sole design, adjustable head weighting and a very thin high strength forged MS300 face material (with the added bonus of being able to adjust loft and lie), the HDI hybrid design is perfect for dialing in the exact distances and trajectories required by any type of player. Whether your looking for maximum distance or simply trying to replace those hard to hit long irons, you owe it to yourself to try one of these amazingly easy to hit KE4 Tour HDI hybrids. The KE4 Tour HDI hybrid also features a DBM (Diamonized Black Metal) finish that is chemically implanted and more wear, corrosion and scratch resistant than typical black PVD finishes.

New and improved for 2014, the KE4 Tour HDI hybrids feature additional loft options, deeper etched scoring lines, a slightly longer hosel for increased bend-ability, triangle screw weights and improved cosmetics.

    KE4 Tour HDI Features

  • Hollow construction design with AST (Advanced Shell Technology) to insure mass and dimensional stability.
  • A very thin 1.85mm forged MS300 high strength steel face produces a high COR for increased ball speeds.
  • Body is precision cast from 1020C Carbon Steel.
  • Loft and lie adjustable (+/- 1 degree)
  • Design profile morphs more from a tradition iron design shape with added playability features above and beyond those only found in modern hybrid design shapes.
  • High MOI (moment of inertia) and progressive sole widths for added forgiveness.
  • Weight adjustable using any of our KE4 weight screws for endless shaft length and weight options.
  • Black DBM finish for the highest possible finish durability.
  • Available in 1H (17), 2H(19), 3H(21), 4H(23) and 5H(25).
  • Product Code - MA0238
  • Available Spring 2014

Maltby KE4 Tour HDI Hybrids is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 13.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Finally switched to a 3 iron hybrid I finally replaced the 3 iron that I had recently had trouble getting a consistent distance with. I bought one of these heads and fitted it with a DG X100 shaft to match my irons. Absolutely a great move to go to this club. I'll likely buy the 4 iron as well. Very easy to hit. Ball goes high off the club face with the 220 yds I'm used to out of a 3 iron.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Probably the best HDI ever - Better than Ping G It's a shame these are being discontinued, they're an absolutely phenomenal club. Great as a driving iron or off the fairway - Works well with an iron shaft or a hybrid shaft, steel or graphite and the flight is sooooo good. Put a 3 HDI against the ping G crossover - no contest. Flew 5 yards farther, landed nice and soft, and for the price difference, it's just a no-brainer. Wish they would bring these back, at least in the 1 and 2 only. After building the last one i had, guys have seen it and are clamoring for them as driving irons.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Don't eliminate this Beautiful design! I recently sold my Titleist AP2'S and had Golf Works fit me for a set of the DBM forged irons which perform much better than my AP2's. I too, needed either a 5 wood or hybrid and went with this KE4 tour hdi 2H. It rockets off the Face! I was told today that I purchased 1 of the last heads available. Golf Works, keep making a few of these heads! There is people like me that love it and will be promoting this beautiful club to friends I play with!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Clib I needed a club that I could use to find fairways on tight holes. I picked up the Tour HDI 3 Hybrid, and I couldn't be happier. I hit the club fairly long, but more importantly my miss hits are not penalized nearly as much as other clubs I have used. I will suggest this club to anybody for an easy to hit, straight club. Highly recommended.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to hit I bought a 4-iron head to replace my Maltby TE forged 4-iron. Similar length and trajectory, but so much easier to hit. Excellent product.

Are the next gen or these coming back? These are hot!!! Good reviews everywhere and honestly beats most of the driving irons out right now.

No we have no plans at this time to bring the HDI Hybrids back. They are a very good hybrid but unfortunately just did not sell well enough for us.

Do you know if these are on the USGA conforming list?

Asked by: Kip
So do the 1, 2, 3 and 4 conform since they are under the usga's 25 degree threshold?

What do you think if i adjust loft of H5 2-3 degree to match H4 and reduce the screw weight and cut the shaft length to 38.5-39”?

Asked by: Childaey
You can likely adjust the loft 1 degree and possibly 2 degrees but it is not likely that you will be able to bend it 3 degrees. The black coating is a very hard brittle coating and it penetrates into the material and it limits how much you might be able to bend these hybrid irons.

When do you expect H4 to be available?

Asked by: Childaey
We will not be getting any more of the H4 irons in stock. We have discontinued the Maltby KE4 Tour HDI Hybrids and have sold out of the H4's. The H5 are the only ones we have left in stock.

I plan to replace my KE4 Tour + 5 iron with this KE4 Tour HDI 25 degree. Can i remove the shaft from my KE4 Tour + and put in this HDI? By the way I put FST 115 stepless in my 5 iron. Second question is it better to go for graphit shaft for this HDI?

Asked by: Varut
Yes you could take the 5 iron shaft from the KE4 Tour+ 5 iron and install it into the HDI 5 iron. It could work well. Graphite shafts are the most common choice for these hybrid irons but steel shafts can also work well. You already have the steel shaft so it makes it an easy experiment. I would try the steel shaft first to see how it works for me.
