Maltby MMB-17 Forged Iron Heads is rated 4.9 out of 5 by 17.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Clubs I have had two sets of Maltby MMB's. I had the original MMB's that were stolen along with my car and got the MMB-17's as the replacement set. I originally played a Honma PP 727 muscle back blade. The play-ability with these clubs is awesome. I can work the ball, well as much as balls allow you to these days. Additionally, they perform well in all conditions and are extremely forgiving with off center shots. Because they perform so well you don't get the same shocking feedback you would with traditional blades, but that is why you bought these right? My only complaint is the top line is double the size of my pp-727's and are also bigger than my old MMB's (still have the 5 iron, wasn't in the bag when stolen). If it came with a smaller top-line they would be a 10, right now I give them an 8.75 for that reason alone.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great golf head I bought a 6 iron head as a test to see if the club would be a good fit for my swing and game. I assembled the club with True Temper Dynamic Gold S300 shafts and did a 16 gram butt counter weight to bring the swing weight down. The first hit was amazing. Straight and on line. I didn't feel the ball leave the club face. I went to a fitting a week later and honed my specs for building the rest of the set. I think I sold the golftec fitter on the clubs. I am in the process of ordering the rest of the club heads to fill out my new set. Can't wait to get them built and use them on my round of golf.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great clubs but maybe a slight adjustment Great clubs, have had these fitted with KBS Tour and they are great. If I ever where to advice a change to this clubhead it would be to make the top line the same as the TE`s and the same with the offset. That would make it look even more like a real players club and probably still keep most of it MPF points..? A great iron for most golfers

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very live I had to wait for these but I am glad I did. Initially I did not like them, but after getting the lie set correctly I am hitting them straight and consistently getting 5-10 extra yards throughout the set. Mis-hits do not penalize me any more than my previous clubs, and a hit in the center of the face feels effortless. I love the clean lines of this club.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent product Heads feel great, nice soft feeling at impact. I'm able to work the ball both ways consistently and they are nice and forgiving. The weight relief in the long irons helps get the ball up in the air nicely. Even on off center hits, I dont feel like I'm losing a tremendous amount of distance. Awesome clubs!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Irons Great Iron. Got them with the TT Dynamic Gold shaft in 7-GW paired with 4-6 TE irons. Top lines are little different, but swing weight, lofts and feel matches perfectly. Was looking for a progressive set and built my own. Soft feel, consistent yardages - great clubs - very, very happy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A True Value Proposition! After getting spoiled by the classic lines and great feel of a major brand forged MB blade I purchased for grins to practice with, I started a search to find something more forgiving and more affordable that shared those classic lines and great feel. The MMB-17 fits that bill to a 'T'! It's a beautiful club, great looking at address, and surprisingly forgiving for a blade design. And that feel on a flush strike! Butter! These irons make me wonder why people pay 3x more for the 'brand names'!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome clubs I normally do not write reviews. I bought these on a whim after having major shoulder surgery. I hit them yesterday for the first time and was amazed. I haven't played in 5 months and pulled out the 3 iron on the first tee and git it 250 right down the middle. My distance is the same and the forgiveness is perfect for this type of iron. I may buy another set of heads for when they discontinue these irons! I am a 5 handicap and I compare these Mizuno.

What would be the approximate swingweight with these heads paired with project x 6.5 shafts and golf pride multicompound grips in standard size. Thank you

Asked by: Kyrazzy
At Men's standard club length (based on a 38" playing length for a 5 iron), the swing weight should be around D2.

Can you bend the MMB-17 up 2 to 2.25 degrees for me prior to shipment?

Asked by: Esteban
Yes these can be bent prior to shipping. There is an additional charge of $4.95 per club for this service. We will bend to a maximum of 2 degrees for loft and lie.

I'm building a mmb-17 demo 7iron at standard length with a tour velvet grip and fst125 pro shaft tipped between S & X. Can you estimate the swing weight for me?

Asked by: Kess
My calculations show it should come up in about C8 range. We reference 36.75" for a standard length steel shafted 7 iron.

What is shaft diameter for maltby forged iron heads

Asked by: Sam
The MMB-17 irons use a .370" tip size shaft. The DBM and TE Forged irons have a universal hosel bore that will accept either a .355" taper tip or .370" parallel tip shaft. All our Forged Wedges use a .370" tip diameter shaft.

I would like to order a Maltby MMB-17 forged 9 iron with an S-300 Dynamic Gold shaft and a ribbed.580 Golf Pride Tour Velvet grip with two wraps.  How do I do that?

Asked by: re_briggs
The easiest way to order it is to call Customer Service at 1-800-848-8358. If you order on line you need to order the head, shaft and grip and at Checkout in the Special Instructions box tell us the specifications you would like it assembled to, including the grip size.

I have the 2007 MMB's. Other than the USGA conforming U shaped grooves on the MMB-17's. What else is different? Topline? Size? MPF? Can I order one assembled iron as trial and complete later? Thanks.

Asked by: blademan
The MMB-17 irons are basically the same as the 2007 MMB irons that you have with the exception of the grooves. The vertical CG is a little higher on the MMB-17 at .741" compared to the 2007 at .729". They are both in the Super Game Improvement Catagory and are within 8 MPF points of each other. You can see all of those measurements at this link. Yes you can order one to try and complete the set later.

Are the MMB-17 compared to the Tricept f2 forged. .I don't want offset irons. Will you be making any new forged irons for 2017.I have a set of Toski t 54 irons that I really liked but they are 17 years old.I do hit them better and longer then f2.

Asked by: oneputter
The specifications for loft and offsets are the same with the F2 Forged and the MMB-17. Both are a progressive offset. If you scroll down the page at this link you will see the black specifications box you can see all the specifications for the MMB-17 irons. The MMB-17 irons do rate a little higher or more forgiving in our MPF ratings for irons then the F2 irons but it is not a major difference. The Toski T-54 irons had a constant offset of .080" through the set. To me the biggest difference between the F2 and MMB-17 is cosmetic. The MMB-17 is not quite as tall as the F2. I have hit both and played with the MMB-17 for a couple of years and they are both very solid.

I am a 13 hcp and looking for a new iron set. I have played the Taylormade M2 irons and like the feel and distance from them. Do you have any iron sets that compare to the M2?

Asked by: Mike6971
We have not designed any of our irons with lofts as strong as they are on the Taylor Made M2 irons. The M2 5 iron loft is 21.5 degrees. Our lowest lofted 5 iron is 24 degrees in our STi irons (MA0262). The STi clubhead design is every bit as forgiving then the Taylor Made M2 irons but with the loft difference you likely would hit the M2 irons a little further. The lofts on our STi irons can be adjusted 2 degrees for loft so the lofts could be strengthened.
