Maltby MMB-17 Iron Set Pak is rated 5.0 out of 5 by 9.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Simply the best Bought these recently. I love Maltby products. I have tried the DBMS, TE Forged and ST-is. The MmB-17s are the best. Can work the ball easily, these have great forgiveness as well. Feel is about as good as anything out there. The shafts have an extra gear. When I really go after one it just launches them. Not too high but it is like it just keeps going. These will probably never leave the bag. Hope they keep making them in case I wear these out. May get a back up set just in case. For $270, these are an outright steal. Oh yeah, they are beautiful irons, too. The TE Forged are a close 2nd but these have a bit lower flight and I like the satin finish better.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Maltby MMB-17 muscleback blades Purchased the standard iron set pack with assembly, adding in the 3 iron (only modification was 1/4" extra length on the shaft). Got them within a week and have played a few rounds. Impressions so far; - When hit right, they feel like butter - Amazing how easily I can work the ball left or right, unlike my old cavity back cast irons - Mishits don't look pretty, but still go straight. - Shots seem to fly about a 1/2 a club head longer than I am used to. Overall I am extremely pleased with these irons. These are name brand quality irons at a surprisingly reasonable price.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from MMB-17 IRONS I made the iron set 4-GW to my own specs and thought they looked great and performed even better. Liked the ball flight and feel of them that much I have ordered a 3 iron.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Set of Irons Had this set assemble and played 3 round with so far. These are some solid clubs for a steal of a price. Very easy to hit for blades and great to look at. The quality of assembly was perfect. The only thing I may have done different is had them install the KBS shafts instead. The Score tend to balloon for me but I have a high ball flight anyway. All-in-all a great set of clubs. Thanks Golfworks!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Maltby MMB-17 7 Iron After researching the subject of Iron Fitting, I became aware that a common practice is to fit the entire iron set based on the fitting of one club, typically the "150 yard club" which is my 7 iron. So I bought the 7 iron before buying the whole set as Golfworks can set up the other clubs based on the fitter's recommendations. For context I've been golfing for 5 years and had a game improvement starter set and later was given an old set of blades, which after hitting I decided to buy the new blades. I've hit all the top name irons at Golf Galaxy so I have a decent point of reference. Well I took my new Maltby out and it was simply a joy to hit. The MMB-17 was forgiving of my poorer strikes but really rewarded the good strikes. On top of that I found that the club is extremely workable. I love it and can't wait to get fitted so I can order the entire set (with a 3 iron in place of the 7 iron as per Golfworks).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing feel / Clean looks Beautiful irons. Amazing forged feel especially off the longer clubs. I was concerned about the Score LT shafts because I couldn't find much information on them but the clubs performed. Great distance. For the price I couldn't believe the results I was getting - just as good, if not better, as my $900 set of forged Nike's. I'm going to try the DBM's next.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sweet sticks look great satin finish and hit fine! I love the old mmb's from like 7 years ago so this is my travel set....the heads are satin finish and look much nicer than the old chrome ones. If I would use these as my main set I would stick in a top of the line shaft though...just sayin..

What is the highest swing weight to which you can build these? Can you get them to D5 in stiff flex? Is these any extra cost to build them to D5? Thanks

Asked by: nuke golfer
D3 is probably the heaviest swingweight we can get at standard length and grip size with these irons. This includes adding a 10 gram tip weight in the shaft. We do not charge extra for swingweighting.

How often do you you come out with clubs paks for the mmb 17 ? And if i wanted to change the shafts to another shaft at the same price would it be same far as price?

Asked by: tony p
Generally we would update Club Paks at the start of the year. We do not offer shaft and grip substitutions for the Club Paks. You would have to order the heads, shafts and grips you wanted and they would not fall under the Club Pak pricing.

Our these irons considered a mid size blade compared to maybe outer blades out on the market?

Asked by: Tony p
I would not call it a mid size. It would be a little longer blade length then other blade irons. At this link if you scroll down to the black specification box you can see the blade length measurement and all the specifications for these irons.

Can I get this set bent down 4 degrees?

Asked by: Jack
No, we limit lie adjustments to 2 degrees. Even though they are forged you can have issues with the chrome plating.

Can the MMB-17 irons have graphite shafts (Reg 65 grams) installed

Asked by: chard67
We do not have a Club Pak for the MMB-17 irons set up with graphite shafts. If you call Customer Service at 1-800-848-8358 they possibly can put a Pak with graphite shafts together for you.

Does anyone get one length sets? I's it recommend ?

Asked by: Dan
None of our iron head designs are designed to be used with Single Length (One Length) irons. For single length irons all the clubheads in the set need to have the same clubhead weight and the same lie angle. Single Length irons is something a player would have to be willing to experiment with to see how it works for them. I can and does work for some players but not all players.
