Maltby MPF Distance Graphite Wood Shafts is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 10.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great shaft for the price I bought these shafts about a month ago and installed them on my "metals." After the first round to get familiar with their characteristics, I am enjoying playing with the new shafts. They do give me more distance, straighter shots and feel light and comfortable.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very nice shaft, especially for the price I used a senior flex Maltby MPF distance shaft to rebuild an old Ping driver which previously had an R-Flex UST IROD driver shaft. The driver performs much better now, with a higher trajectory and better head feel.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from MPF S- Flex Driver Shaft Increased club head speed so had to increase flex none better than MPF for price and performance

Rated 5 out of 5 by from feel and responsiveness Nice balance. Feel was great on impact with very favorable feedback.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Possible Value and Performance I continue to be impressed with the TheGolfWorks shafts.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from very stable shaft Longer that I thought it would be. I'm a mid high driver of the ball so I wanted a lil more height off the tee. I tipped 1/2" and made a 44" driver, I like it a lot. I'll see this weekend at a course I hit driver a lot at and see how it measures up against the graftech 50 stiff shaft.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice Stick I bought this shaft to put into a TaylorMade Burner 2 Superfast 9.5 degree driver. I did this for a pal and he likes the club now that it has a stiff shaft.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Fine Shaft Installed it into a Nike VR-S str8 fit. Now I am longer and straighter than my buddies. A good replacement for the OEM shaft.

Can this shaft be used with the KE4 -st deep 3'wood head on a 44 inch shaft? I feel much more comfortable with a small head driver than the do with 460cc Adding an inch in length or adding 6 grams to head weight- for more distance.? Currently is 4B2M

Asked by: Ron
Yes the MPF Distance shaft can work fine on the KE4 ST-Fd 3 wood and it can be assembled to 44". With the deep face 3 wood at 44" with the MPF Distance shaft and a 50 gram weight grip the swingweight would be in the D0 to D1 range.

PF 2dS a suitable replacement for a Ping 169D Sr Flex shaft?

Asked by: Stew
Yes the MPF Distance shaft could be a good replacement for the Ping 169D SR flex shaft. The 169D is a .350" tip size and the MPF Distance is only made in a .335" tip size so you will need the BB9048 for the .335" size for properly installing the MPF Distance shaft into your Ping Driver.

With driver hosel depth 1.5" what would you recommend for maximum tipping, given the 3.5" parallel tip section. Guessing you want 1/2" above hosel?

Asked by: Drron
Hosel bore depth does not effect or change shaft tip trimming. The measurement from where the shaft bottoms out in the clubhead to the ground line is the measurement that would effect shaft trimming assuming the shaft was made to be it's listed flex in a bore through like the Graphite Design YS6+ and YS7+. With most driver shafts these days there is not recommended tip trimming for installation into a driver unless the shaft is a combination flex shaft and you are trimming for the stiffer of the two flexes. With a 1.5" bore depth we would recommend leaving a 2" parallel tip length for proper installation, including the ferrule.

I bought this for my driver head, but considering it for my 3 wood instead. How would this shaft perform in a 3 wood? How does it compare to the Maltby fairway wood shafts?

Asked by: Dan
The shaft should perform in a fairway wood well. Requires 1/4" tip trim for a #3 wood before installation, then trim to final playing length from the butt after installation. The Distance shaft is lighter than the MPF Fairway shaft with a little higher torsional stiffness, so it would probably feel and play a little softer than the MPF Fairway shaft that is specifically designed to be used with fairway woods.

Curious if the frequency testing is same as shaft luring? You are basically putting the plane in a direction to be more consistent- correct?

Asked by: Drowe2817
If you mean golf shaft Puring, yes the Puring process identifies the most stable plane of oscillation of the golf shaft and the stiffest side of the golf shaft. Frequency testing is done to identify the stiffness of the shaft. Many clubmaker's use a Frequency Machine to FLO (Flat Line Oscillation) a golf shaft and if you are frequency testing a shaft it will test better and more consistently if the shaft oscillates in plane. Here is a link to the SST Pure web site where you can see more about their process including a video of how the shafts are tested. http://sstpure.com/

will the Maltby MPF Distance Graphite Wood Shafts fit the callaway big bertha 815 alpha driver and what else would I need to replace the ome shaft

Asked by: drp268
Yes the MPF Distance shaft will fit the BB 815 Alpha driver. You will also need the CA0020 Callaway shaft adaptor or you would need to remove the existing shaft from the adaptor and install the new shaft into the existing adaptor. https://www.golfworks.com/callaway-advanced-opti-force-shaft-adaptor/p/CA0020/

Currently use Aldila NVS stiff 350 tip shaft in driver.  Is this shaft in stiff flex comparable to that as far as profile or stiffness is concerned?  Would the MRC Kuro Kage black HBP be considered similar also?  The weight specs all seem close.

Asked by: Jason
Both the MPF Distance and the Kuro Kage Black HBP shafts are stiffer over their full length then the NVS 350 tip S flex. They are stiffer mostly in the tip section and the MPF Distance and Black HBP tested very similar to each other.
