If I replace the FST 115 S flex shaft in my irons with the MPF Graphite iron shaft, how would it change my ball flight? Currently hit the 7-iron 160-165 and 6-iron 180-190.

Asked by: cab519
The FST 115 S flex is listed as a mid trajectory shaft and the MPF Iron S flex a mid/high trajectory. I have hit both of these shafts and for me the trajectory is very similar and it tends to be more of a mid high trajectory. Many times I see players hit the lighter weight graphite shaft initially higher then the heavier weight steel shaft.

I currently have the DBM irons with TT Score LT shafts tipped to R+. If I want similar flex in the graphite MPF iron shaft, should I go with regular or stiff flex. Or how does the flex compare to the tt score lt shaft? BTW, DBM Irons are fabulous!!!

Asked by: Jeff
From having hit both shafts I would say you could use the R flex MPF Series iron shaft and tip trim 1/2" more then what is recommended and create the R+ flex you have with your Score LT shafts. It is always hard to compare graphite and steel especially when the shaft weight changes quite a bit. The shaft weight will be the biggest change.

How do the MPF stiff shafts compare to the Recoil 680 shafts? I am a scratch Senior player that is looking for max distance with my RSI2 irons.

Asked by: JOS
Our test data shows the MPF S flex iron shaft tests stiffer then the Recoil 680 F4 (S) flex over the full length of the shaft. The Recoil tests as being true to it's listed flex and the MPF S flex testing stiffer then normal. The shafts are similar in weight and torque and both designed to produce a mid/high trajectory. The MPF testing stiffer than the Recoil would also likely create a little lower shot trajectory.

potential purchase - Maltby MPF vs Kuro Kage Black - regular flex - 6i and 7i STi - similarities/differences - have trouble with current Ping G25 6i and 7I in regular flex steel (inconsistency) but okay with 8i thru wedges - need remedy

Asked by: Dave
The Kuro Kage R flex tested a little more flexible then the MPF R flex. The MPF is designed to produce a mid/high trajectory in the R flex and the Kuro Kage a mid trajectory. The difference are fairly minor between these two shafts.

Looking for graphite shafts in A flex to reshaft my Adams Idea A12 OS, R irons and Nike Vs, R fairway metals. I am a mid to high handicapper needing higher launch and a softer flex.

Asked by: JimmyBreeze
The MPF Series Iron shafts (MA0251) in an A flex could work well with the Adams Idea A12 OS irons. The A flex is a senior flex. The MPF Series Fairway woods (MA0249) in the A flex could also work well with the Nike Vs fairway woods.

I am planning to have the shafts professionally installed in my irons (6-pw). Do I need to have them trimmed & tipped when ordering them?

Asked by: JBoD
If you are having them professionally installed then the clubmaker should be able to do all the correct tip and butt trimming needed. Generally the clubmaker would prefer to do the trimming as well.
