Maltby TE Forged Irons

Maltby TE Forged Iron Views New for 2010, the Maltby M-Series Tour Edition Forged Irons replace the popular MTF Forged Irons. The Tour Edition Forged Iron club head has been developed based on customer request for a traditional cavity back design with less graphics. The exceptionally clean look of the M-Series TE irons along with a traditional blade profile appeals to the better players and traditionalist looking for more forgiveness. The TE Forged irons are the result of a tireless five step forging process that starts with a raw billet of 1035 carbon steel and through a series of 5 different forging dies and multiple heat treating process’ creates an incredibly precise finished head requiring very little surface grinding. Typical forged cavity backs only utilize one forging die and have to be hand ground into the final shape and head weight, causing inconsistencies in every clubs specifications from one club to the next. By optimizing the center of gravity position, the Maltby TE Forged irons offer Super Game Improvement playability, combined with the exceptional feel and look of a true forged, players cavity iron.

  • Five-step true forging process provides unparalleled quality and playability.
  • 1035 Carbon Steel provides a soft, solid feel and allows for easy adjustability.
  • Traditional blade profile appeals to better players and traditionalist while maintaining a high playability.
  • Cavity back design concentrates weight around the perimeter and low, yielding a very forgiving “players” club.
  • Mirror, nickel chrome finish enhances feel and enhances the clean, traditional appearance.
  • Blended leading and trailing edges of the sole will not snag.
  • Universal hosel bore diameter allows for .355" and .370" tip shafts
  • Available #3 - PW, GW
  • Conforms to the rules of golf
  • RH only
  • Recommended golf ferrule – 74PI
  • Product Code = MA0099

Maltby TE Forged Iron Clubhead Specifications

Maltby TE Forged Irons is rated 4.9 out of 5 by 48.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great clubs! First off, these came with stickers giving the weight to within .1 gram, very cool. Secondly, the catalog and internet do not do these clubs justice. They are beautiful looking heads. I actually thought they were kind of ugly on the internet but wanted them anyway for the constant offset and high playability but once I saw them I was impressed. Finally,I assembled with Rifle 4.5 and tried a rudimentary M.O.I. match. The results have been wonderful and have carried over from the range to the course, actually better performing on the course! Congratulations on a great set; I anticipate buying another set just like it because they are that good!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Personalized option I have a set of older AP1s (TT steel shafts) and was experimenting with the Maltby irons for my travel set. Bought TE Pitching wedge and a MMB-17 5 iron. I put the same Fujikura graphite shaft on both and tried them out at Top Golf. The TE feels identical to my AP1s, distance about same adjusting for angle and shaft length - is longer and club face angle a little steeper on my AP1 PW. The MMB-17 definitely has a smaller "sweet" spot. However, it doesn't seem to affect my distance dramatically, and I kind of like the feedback/reminder to aim a little on the inside of the club face as I have a tendency to miss hit near the toe.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Forged Head For $25 a head you cannot beat the quality, look and feel of these irons. Just a plain and simple forged cavity back with hardly any offset no gimmicks or misleading marketing. They feel great, can be bent however you like and very well made. The also look great! simple and classy. These are superior in quality to most anything the general public can get (non professional club makers). I had a 7iron made up by golfworks (great work by the way) and can't be happier, I will probably get a whole set.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect club I'm one of those golf fans who has played more clubs than I should have. Mizuno were by far my preference before I met Mr. TE Forged. I had been playing on any given day MP-32/60 combo or MP37. I'm really not consistent enough to play those clubs so I tried the Nike VR Forged. While they are no doubt long they were a bit too chunky in appearance for me and I just couldn't get comfortable with the 7-9 irons in particular. I demoed and loved the newest AP2 as well as the MP54 and JPX Pro. The problem with those three sets is I don't like paying that much for golf clubs. I'd rather spend it on my son or my wife. I am a golf blog junkie who rarely comments but always researches. After hearing much fanfare of the Maltby brand I dug a little deeper into their forged offerings. I bought a set of MMB used, and although I liked them and think they are fantastic clubs in their own right, they were just a little to long in their profile for me. I decided to swap out my 5 and 6 iron MP60 with a TE 5 and 6 to give Maltby another shot since I read the TE is a little more compact in length. Let me tell you that the minute I opened the box containing the 5 and 6 iron I went to the website and ordered the 7-Gap. These clubs ooze classy and beg to be swung the minute you lay eyes on them. The results on the range were immediately what I had felt the first time I pured one of my old mizzys. The funny thing is on the next shot I missed toward the toe considerably and figured for sure the ball would land 40 plus yards short and right of target. To my pleasure and surprise the ball traveled only 15 yards short (6 iron) on a rather poor swing that I know for a fact any other club I own would have had atrocious results. Even the shots which I hit a little thin traveled at the target and had enough steam to put me in a workable situation on my next shot. My other clubs no doubt would have left me with dribblers. I paired the heads with the Score LT shaft which is a perfectly acceptable combo but I do wish I would have gone stiff rather than regular as I'm getting some dispersion to the right. That's my fault however as I mistakenly ordered regular. Anyway, long story short, best club I've owned and at an unbeatable price. I'll never buy another brand/model of irons. Period.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very forgiving--and beautiful I had been playing with Ping i20s and steel shafts. But I've had some shoulder problems and thought the steel shafts might be part of the problem. So I bought these Maltby TE heads and built them with Arthur Xtreme graphite shafts (also from Golf Works). The shoulder problem is much improved. That's probably due to the graphite shafts. But these heads are great. They are very forgiving--even more than my Pings. Easy to work, with gentle fades or draws (couldn't do that with the Pings!). And the simple lines and no clutter make them some of the nicest looking heads around. I plan on playing these for a long time.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from TE irons remind me of Ben hogan apex Bought these irons with S300 dyn gold shafts after taking a club making class there at golf works. I am a Ben Hogan iron fanatic. These irons have a great look and balanced feel. When you hit the sweet spot the feeling is awesome. Great distance and a much higher playability rating than my Hogans with that same wonderful sweet spot! For your Hogan fans you know exactly what I am talking about. Great job golfworks team on these irons.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from End of a Long Search I have a pile of 7 iron heads from testing to find a perfect club. This is it. Assembled them on FST PRO 115 shafts and have never been more pleased with a set of irons. They seem able to correct for off center hits but still let you know how you are striking the ball. Also makes a beautiful club with very clean lines, especially with leaving the labels off the shafts. At less than half the price of comparable (yet not as great) manufactured clubs, I must salute Maltby and The GolfWorks.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great irons! I've tried most top-end irons over the years (Titleist, Ping, Taylor Made, etc.). These TE irons have a great classic look to them like the old Titleist DCI or Hogan Apex but with very high MOI. They look great, feel great and are super game improvement. As with any club in your bag, it makes a huge difference when you get properly fitted (my club fitter adjusted loft and lie and recommended 1/2 inch longer shafts with KBS C-Taper 90 shafts - but that's just my specs). I would compare the look, feel and results of these TE irons with any of the irons from the big-name manufacturers.

Hi, Is there any upcharge to have the lies and lofts checked before shipment. Yes I know the specs are +/-1 for each but can I get them checked and adjusted to be exact.

Asked by: wts
Yes you can have them checked and adjusted. There is an upcharge but I am not quite sure what that charge is with GolfWorks Canada. You would need to contact them to find out for sure. https://www.golfworks.ca/contact-us/a/222/

How do I indicate on an order to have this assembled with shaft, grip, ferrule, etc. and pay the $10? I don't see an option for this on your checkout page. And, are there any special discounts for first-time customers?

Asked by: Ace
At Checkout in the Special Instruction box put a note that you would like them assembled. Indicate length and grip size etc. as well. Assembly is $10.00 per club up to 4 clubs so your assembly for this set of irons will be $40.00.

How do these differ from the MO5, other than the engraving of course?

Asked by: ddc
The M05 irons are exactly the same heads as the TE Forged. They are still made from the same tooling. It is just a name and groove change. The TE Forged has the new grooves to be conforming with the current USGA Rules.

We recommend the 74PI ferrules for the TE Forged. You can use any .370" ferrule with these irons.
