Maltby Tour Grind MG Wedges

Maltby MG Tour Grind Wedges Views

The Maltby MG Tour Grind Wedges were designed for the player that demands creativity around the greens. The sole design of the MG Tour Grind Wedges features a narrow sole with an exaggerated toe and heel Tour Grind making them the most versatile wedges ever designed under the Maltby brand. Micro Grooves (MG) have been CNC milled into the face to consistently increase spin around the greens. The Diamonized Black Metal finish is a very thin chemically implanted coating that is twice as durable as traditional nickel chrome plating and 30 times more durable PVD coatings typically found on modern black wedges. The DMB finish will not “crack” or “peel” when being bent to custom specs yet is so strong it will actually extend the sharpness and overall shape of the precision milled MG grooves vs. any other wedge finish currently available. If you desire a wedge that allows for the ultimate in consistency and creativity, the Maltby MG Tour Grind wedges are the answer!

Maltby Tour Grind Wedge Clubhead Specifications

Maltby Tour Grind MG Wedges is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 32.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Butta First of all. These are the most beautiful wedges I have ever seen (all manufacturers included). I paired 52, 56 and 60 degree wedges with rifle spinner shafts with sensicore inserts. The feel, even on full swing shots is unmatched by any OEM. At Carl's Golfland, I demoed a vokey sm4, Cleveland 588, and Mizuno MP R-12 along with my Maltby MG Tour. The Maltby performed just as well as the others, but had a better feel. Perhaps due to the sensicore inserts. The grind on these wedges allow the skilled player to perform an arsenal of shots around the green. Simply put, these wedges perform just as well as any major OEM at 1/3 of the price. Put all that together, BUTTA!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Pretty good wedge at great price Although I have not had the ability to take this wedge to the course, I have had extensive practice sessions with it and can say without a doubt, the finish on this wedge is fantastic. I bought the 60-07 and love the versatility of the grind. I shafted it with the Rifle Spinner shaft and really like the soft feel on half-three quarter shots as well as fuller shots. Spin is very controllable and not over-excessive, which is great for a high spin player like myself. If the wedge performs as good on the course like it does on the short game areas, I will seriously consider the 52 or 56. I would, however, like to know whether the grooves are usga conforming or not, as I plan on playing tournaments with it next year

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Set of Wedges I Have Owned! I originally purchased the 56° wedge in order to evaluate performance and the durability of the finish. It didn't take long for me to order the 52° and 60° wedges to complete my set. These are easily the best performing wedges I have ever owned, and I've owned quite a few different sets from the most popular OEM's to components from other reputable manufacturers. Feel/Feedback is excellent and the grinds are perfect. I've had my wedges for several months now and the finish is extremely durable, hardly a scratch. Very attractive design as well. These wedges have instilled much more confidence in my short game, something that I've lacked in my overall game. I would most highly recommend these wedges.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great wedges for a great price! I bought these clubs about a month ago and couldn't be more impressed! I used the same set of Maltby irons for 12 years, but have always been a Cleveland wedge loyalist. I was in need of new wedges, and thought I'd give the Tour Grind MG a shot, and I couldn't be happier! Not only did they perform as well, or a little better, than my old Cleveland's, but they were a fraction of the cost! If you're on the fence, give them a shot, with the 30 day playability guarantee you have nothing to lose, but you need it, these are awesome.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Wedge Probably have played close to 10 rounds with the 60 so far which is my wedge of choice under 90 or so yards. Very much exceeded my expectations. Used a True Temper DGS300 for the shaft - tipped to 8-iron flex. Basically this is the wedge flex used by most companies. Absolutely perfect balance. The grind is the best I've encountered so far. Can lay the blade totally flat, but never feel like it will excessively dig on full shots. Stopping power is great. Works good out of the sand as well. The finish is impeccable with no blemishes showing after quite a few shots. Still can't believe it only cost about $60 to build the club. I've been using Callaway X-Forged for the last 3 years or so and these are without a doubt much better. Are they as good as Vokey's? Not sure, but they meet all of my requirements. I can change the head out once a season and keep the shaft for only $35 and 5 minutes of time if the grooves get worn. Kudos to Maltby for the design.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Tour Grind Wedge I puchased the 56 and 60 degree wedges with spinner shafts last year and have played about 30 rounds with them. These are great wedges! I have always played Cleveland wedges and thought I would give these a try after liking the TE forged irons. The look and feel are excellent and would highly recommend them to anyone.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Predictable Results This is my second Tour Grind wedge. This time a 60* to replace one that I had played for a long time but had lost. I first tried one from another fine component company. It had a different face and bounce. I worked with it for a year before I gave up on it. I was just never sure what was going to happen when I hit it. With this Tour Grind MG wedge the results are very much what I expect for the shot I am trying to hit. I really like the feel, look, and finish; as well as the playability. A real winner.

Looking down at address, what other wedges are these most similar to? Is there a picture available of this angle? I like what I have seen but what I am going to look down at is the most important thing. Cleveland wedges are always the most appealing

Asked by: Mckgolfman
We do not have an at address image, but this is very traditional shape and believe you would find it similar to an original Cleveland type wedge. It may have a slightly more of a straight leading edge than the Cleveland.

Do you plan to make additional 48-wedge head? Recently in the golf club market, The pitching wedge loft tends to rise more, pitching and 52-degree wedges are spreading too far. So I hope you to add 48 degree in Tour Grind MG Wedges line-up.

Asked by: JS Park
We currently do not have a 48 degree MG Tour Grind wedge in development. Thank you for the suggestion.

Can I a 60 degree hand picked to 58 or 59 deg?

Asked by: smpeterson50
We can bend the loft to 58 or 59 degree from the 60 degree. It will reduce the bounce by the amount bent (ie: bending 60 to 58 will reduce bounce 2 degrees). The charge to bend is $4.95.

A little confused, can the lofts be bent to change the 52* wedge to a 54*, and the 56* to a 58* wedge?  That is the degree wedges I would need to compliment a new set of maltby dbm iron set.  Some questions you answered no, one you answered yes.

Asked by: 89smackie
No we cannot adjust these heads 2 degrees. 1 degree at most is all these wedges will bend without breaking.
