Mitsubishi Rayon Kuro Kage Black HBP 2nd Gen Wood Shafts

KURO KAGE™ Black Second Generation: Like the original KURO KAGE™ Black, the Second Generation KURO KAGE™ Black features a smooth bend profile, with a softer mid-section balanced by a slightly stiffer tip and butt-section, with an all new higher balance point. Our High Density Prepreg continues to be used in the lower third of the shaft, for enhanced feel, stability and strength. Using High Density Prepreg also allows us to raise the balance point, to give you greater speed.

Mitsubishi Rayon Kuro Kage Shaft Specifications

Mitsubishi Rayon Kuro Kage Black HBP 2nd Gen Wood Shafts is rated 5.0 out of 5 by 8.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great feeling shaft with fantastic performance Purchased the Stiff flex. Put a Callaway Optifit tip on, with no tip trim, and am using it in a Callaway Alpha 815 driver. This Kuro Kage feels very smooth. It is not boardy but not whippy either - just right for me. I get good distance and a tight dispersion. I have used Aldila Tour Rogue S , and Fujikura Speeder 767 S with this head. The Rogue is a little too stiff, and the Speeder is a little too whippy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Shaft Mated this puppy to my Titleist 913F. Great performance for the price. Cut it short to 42.25" on my 12 degree head. I am suddenly able to hit my driver after hitting 3 wood off the tee with the exact same shaft all last season. The previous stock basará shaft was boardy with a low ball flight. I couldn't control it nor did it have the feel I enjoy. The kuro hbp changed all that with a piercing medium to high trajectory while creating fantastic confidence inspiring performance. I've found fairways and not drifted excessively right with my natural left to right fade. I would say this shaft is better suited for players who like to feel the shaft loading through the swing with a spring like unloading at impact. The soft tipped nature allows it to play on the softer r+ side of the stiffness matrix in the stiff flex. Very happy with my purchase and the butt and tip prep provided by golf works.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome Shaft Put this shaft in a Cobra F6 driver. The feel, dispersion, and distance far exceeds the stock shaft Matrix shaft of the F6 driver.

How much difference is there between the original Kuro Kage Black, circa 2012 - 2013 and the 2nd Gen HBP as far as location of balance point? Thanks

Asked by: jjohnss
The HBP balance point is approximately 1/2" higher then the original Black.

Would this work well with a G25? What prep would be needed? I previously had the stock ping shaft x-stiff trimmed down 3/4”

Asked by: Phil
Yes the Kuro Kage Black HBP 2nd Gen will fit the Ping G25. Unless you are planning on reshafting the existing shaft adaptor you will need a new Ping G25 shaft adaptor (PGC001). We can prep the shaft for installation into the existing adaptor or for installation into a new adaptor. We can also butt cut to your finished length. You will need to tell us what length you want for you G25. https://www.golfworks.com/ping-i25-g25-anser-shaft-adaptor/p/PGC001/

Hi...I want to change my shafts in 2 drivers. Slowing down so the regular shafts have to go. What do you suggest for a Cobra XL Baffler - the latest version before the "Fly"-and also for a Tour Edge Xrail? Don't want to spend more than $60 each.

Asked by: BubbaPi
The Kuro Kage Black HBP 2nd Gen (MR0044) could work well in both of these drivers. You could also look at the Grafalloy ProLaunch Blue 45 (TT0106) or 65 (TT0107). Both could work well and the 45 gram version give you a lighter weight option. The Aldila NVS 55/65 (AL202202) could be another good option.

You can install a .335" tip size shaft using a SHIM 15 or the Universal Plastic Shim (BB9018) https://www.golfworks.com/the-golfworks-brass-adaptor-shims/p/SHIM/ https://www.golfworks.com/universal-shim-with-ferrule-335/p/BB9018/ Both work well for this shaft installation.
