Trimming Instructions

True Temper Dynamic Gold SL .355" Steel Iron Shaft is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 5.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Performs like DG, but lighter I've been enjoying these in a set of TE forged irons and am very pleased with the performance. They are low launching like the Dynamic Gold shafts, but are 20 grams lighter! The shot dispersion is excellent, too. If you need a lighter shaft that is tip stiff, this is it!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Light and Accurate Had to replace a shaft in a set of Nike SQ Irons. Nike shaft was a True Temper and this was as close as I could come. The shaft is very close to the OEM except lighter, stronger, and more accurate. Overall this is a terrific shaft. I have also used it in my Mizuno MP32 blades. It plays as well as a graphite, but seem to be more accurate.

dose having midsize grips fittted on dgsl x100 shafts make them heavier than a standard grip and by how much approx ,alsoit really seems to thicken the shaft far to much. any expierences of this combination.

Asked by: bear
Mid size grips are heavier then standard size grip. How much heavier depends on which mid size and which standard size grip we are comparing. If I compare the Golf Pride Tour Velvet a standard .600" core size grip weights 49.5 grams and creates a .900" diameter when installed on a .600" butt diameter shaft. The Golf Pride Tour Velvet Mid Size grip weights 53.5 grams and will create a .960" diameter when installed on a .600" butt diameter shaft. Some mid size grips can weight in the low 60 gram weight range.

My head club have parallel hosel 370 can i use this tapered shaft 355 if i use Shims 355 -370...then the hosel is deep 1" inch and i need 1/2 inch more than standard lenght...impossibile use this shaft? I need parallel 370?

Asked by: Leonard
You're misunderstood about the lengths. If you put the 39" 5 iron shaft into your club head it will likely be 40.25" before trimming the butt of the shaft. That's based on a hosel bore to ground head measurement of 1.25". You would then trim the butt 1.75" to get a final club length of 38.5" (based on "std" length being 38".). You should insert shaft, measure club 3 times and then trim the butt :-). Regarding the SL .370 parallel shaft versus the .355 taper - the taper tip is a constant weight . Each shaft will trim out at approximately 98 grams. The .370 parallel shaft is a descending weight shaft - meaning the PW shaft is significantly lighter that the 4 iron shaft and will be less than 90 grams. This can cause problems with some golfers as the shafts get shorter and lighter depending on what your optimal club weight is.

I was told recently that True Temper is going to stop making the SL shafts. Is this true?

Asked by: Paul33
True Temper has told me that the DG SL will be discontinued at the end of 2017 and be replaced with a new shaft. At this point I have no idea as to what specifications the new shaft will have.

My 7 iron is 37" long, but you list the 38" shaft for the 7 iron. Is the difference between the 37" and 38" shaft only at the butt end?--said another way, can I just buy the 37 and not worry about butt trimming, or should I buy the 38 and butt trim?

Asked by: ronray43
If you install the 37" shaft, which is the shaft for the 9 iron and wedges, into your 7 iron instead of the 38" shaft the shaft will play a half a flex stiffer then the listed flex. Even if you install the 37" shaft your 7 iron the length will be in the 38" to 38.25" range. The clubhead design adds to the finished length of the club. You will still need to butt cut the club to it's finished length of 37". Shafts are made longer in raw length to help with players who need over length clubs.
