True Temper Multi Step Lite Steel Iron Shaft Specifications

True Temper Multi Step Lite Steel Iron Shafts is rated 5.0 out of 5 by 1.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic I just reshafted a sand wedge for my 12 year old nephew with the Multi Step Lite shaft. The shaft was installed with a bit less than ladies flex and a assembled length of 34.25 inches. The performance of this club is outstanding. I play a stiff to extra stiff shaft and hit this club with precision. My nephew hit almost every ball high with a soft landing. I still can't get over it. I highly recommend this shaft.

I have AP2 irons wanting to hit higher and longer they are stiff .

Asked by: redrider
The AP2 irons use a .355" taper tip shaft and the Multi-Step shafts are only available in a .370" parallel tip shaft which is to large to fit the Titleist irons. Your AP2 iron hosel bores would have to be reamed or rebored to accept a .370" shaft to be able to use the Multi-Step shafts. Possibly a shaft like the True Temper XP95 (TT0101) which is a .355" taper tip and designed to create a high ball flight could be a good choice.

Can't remember. Been a while since I've reshafted a club. Do your shafts come with the trim instructions?  Also, if I have you trim them, is that price per shaft.

Asked by: Swampfox
Yes we send trimming instructions with the shafts. If you have use trim the shafts. If we do tip and butt trimming the cost is $4.95 per shaft. If you just want the tip prepped which would include trimming and sanding the tip that is $2.95 per shaft. At this link if you scroll down the page you will see a specification chart for these shafts and you will see the Trim Codes. You will find the trimming instructions at this link.

You could use any .370" tip diameter shaft, steel or graphite for the Taylor Made 2.0 irons and they could all match well with the irons but if we had some information on what you need the shafts to do for you we could give you some more specific recommendations. You can use or MPF Shaft Fitting Program to help with your choice.

I am 63 years of age with a swing speed of 103. I wish to reshaft a set of Wilson Staff D-200 irons with a lighter shaft than the Dynamic Gold S-300 shafts I now have in my irons. What shaft do you recommend for me to purchase.

Asked by: Mike
If you like the performance of the Dynamic Gold, other then the weight, I would recommend the Dynamic Gold SL (TT201105). The True Temper Multi-Step will fit these Wilson irons but are designed to produce a high ball flight. If that fits your needs then the shaft should work fine.

I am a senior with a 71 swing speed. I have Ping I3 older blade clubs. Are these shafts able to be used in my Pings ?

Asked by: Guy
No the Ping I3 blade irons used a .355" taper tip shaft. The Multi-Step shafts are only available in a .370" parallel tips which is to large to fit the Ping I3 blade irons.

I am a club professional and currently play the new Apex Irons by Callaway. I have men's senior shafts. I like the weight of the shaft but have difficulty with the ball going left. Would lightweight steel shafts improve the ball flight??

Asked by: suzieq
If you are currently using a lightweight graphite iron shaft it is possible that a lightweight steel shaft, which would be a little heavier in weight, could straighten out your ball flight. Depending on which model Apex irons you have you may need a .355" taper tip. We do offer the Nippon N.S. Pro 8950GH (NP0005) steel shafts in an A (Senior) flex.

I do not understand abbreviations for LA / F and R/S flex on which one to order to the previous question

Asked by: Bill
When you see a shaft flex marked L/A or R/S it means this is a combination flex shaft that can be made into either the L flex (Ladies) or A flex (Seniors) or the R flex for Regular men's flex and S for Stiff men's flex. You need to follow the trimming instructions to trim these shafts to play the flex you want them to be. I am assuming you might be seeing the F on UST Mamiya shafts where they will use F1, F2, F3, F4 & F5 to denote the flexes of their shafts. The letters translate into the following flexes. F1 = L flex (Ladies) F2 = A flex (Seniors) F3 = R flex (Regular Men's) F4 = S flex (Stiff Men's) F5 = X flex ( Extra Stiff Men's) If you see just an F for flex it could mean a Firm Flex which is generally a shaft that will play between an Men's Regular and Stiff flex.

I am an amputee and swing adjustments have resulted in a lower ball flight off of my irons. I am using Ping i3 blades with .355 R shafts. I am considering a lower flex point shaft and/or an A shaft. What would you suggest?

Asked by: Rod
The only .355" tip diameter A flex graphite shaft that we stock is the Aerotech Steelfiber 70CW (AT0020I). We could special order any of the UST Recoil .370" shafts from UST with a .355" taper tip. UST uses F2 to indicate the A flex. We have the Recoil 460 (US0095), Recoil 660 (US0072), Recoil 670 (US0072) and Recoil 760 (US0099) in the F2 flex that could be special ordered in the .355" tip size. For a special order you would need to contact Customer Service at or by calling 1-800-848-8358.
