UST MP5 Shaft Specifications

UST Mamiya MP5/MP6/MP7 Graphite Wood Shafts is rated 5.0 out of 5 by 3.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent addition to my fairway woods! I purchased the MP5 shaft and had them installed in my X-hot 3&5 woods, one of the best decisions that I have ever made. My swing speed is 85-95 MPH and this shaft gives me the needed release at the head to but my ball flight long and straight. Great feel and a reasonable priced improvement to stock shafts.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very stable shaft I installed this shaft on a 2016 GBB driver. I ordered the club with a Kuro Kage tini black shaft which was very difficult to control (hook). The MP5 gives me the light weight and distance I was seeking along with excellent control and trajectory.

I use a 44.5'' Cobra Fly-Z+ driver with a Matrix VLCT St 65 stiff shaft (feels a little boardy). Avg SS is 100 mph. My code is 4B2M. I'm undecided about this shaft UST MP5 and 2 others: Mamiya AXIVCore Tour Green and GD YS 6+. What would you recommend?

Asked by: Bobamgolf
The UST MP5 is the lightest weight of the shafts you have listed. It also is the most flexible of the shafts you have listed. It does test and play more flexible then normal. By almost a full flex. The Axivcore Tour Green and YS6+ are a little more similar with the Tour Green testing a little stiffer through the middle and lower part of the shaft then the YS6+. Both shafts test pretty close to the average stiffness of an S flex. I personally play the YS6+ in my driver and have for a few years now. I think it is a great feeling shaft and I recommend it often.

I want to move from reg flex shafts to senior shafts in my 915F Titleist 3, 5, and 7 fairway woods.  Please recommend which of the UST Mamiya shafts you would suggest.  Will tip trimming be involved? Thanks. Great store.

UST shafts like the MP5 (US0061) and UST Gold 55 (US0081) in the A flex could both work well. They both follow trim code W6 and yes there would be tip trimming for both of these shafts into the 3,5 and 7 woods. 1" tip trimming for the 3 wood and 2" each for the 5 and 7 woods.

Do you stock UST MP6 A flex shaft for drivers? Looking for a mid kick point shaft in A flex.

Asked by: George
We do not stock the MP6 wood shafts. We could special order this shaft for you from UST. You would need to contact our Customer Service Department at 1-800-848-8358 or by email at and they can help you with this special order.

I hit the ball high with driver and I want a lower trajectory ball flight. Which UST Mamiya driver would you recommend?

Asked by: Edd
The UST MP5 wood shaft is designed to produce a high ball flight. I would suggest looking at shafts like the ProForce V2 55 or 65 (US001W) or the Axivcore Green (US0058). Both of these shafts are designed to produce a mid ball flight.

Is the "A" flex for seniors with a slow swing speed.  Assuming low flex point and torque 4.5+...

Asked by: sparkplug58
An "A" flex would be considered for slower swing speeds and is considered a "Senior" flex.

Which shaft should I use UST Mamiya mp5 or mp6 . My driver speed is 96-98 it goes about 232-240  Should I use stiff or regular. MPF code 2D2M

Asked by: James T Time
In using our shaft MPF fitting your swingspeed at 96 to 98 mph would put you into an S flex or your MPF code would start with a 4 (4D2M). Your carry distance puts you more in an R flex shaft range or your MPF code would start with a 3 (3D2M) An option would be to use the R flex and tip trim 1/2" from the tip end of the shaft which would make it play in between an R and S flex. If you have a quicker swing tempo the MP6 could be a better option to help you maintain the pace and timing of your swing. if you have a smooth tempo the MP5 being lighter weight can help you swing a little faster and give you a little more distance. With the quicker swing tempo the S flex could help you maintain more control as well.

I am looking for a driver shaft up grade for my Taylormade burner 10.5 loft. I am 73 years old my swing smother speed is 73, my Carrie is about 150 yards.i like ust mp5 or matrix. What do you réclame do.

Asked by: Ramjet
Either the UST MP5 or a Matrix senior flex shaft could work well. Matrix does have some shafts in the mid 40 gram weight range that could help create a little more swingspeed and possibly a little more distance.
