UST Mamiya Recoil 660/670/680 Irons

Finally, a revolutionary technology that will change how you think about iron shafts. UST Mamiya’s new recoil iron shafts are a game changer. In the past, heavy weight graphite iron shafts felt dead and stiff. With UST Mamiya’s exclusive recoil™ technology, we have brought feel back into the shaft, while allowing players to hit a wide range of shots that result in better distance control and pin seeking accuracy.

By positioning over 19 different layers within the shaft, we were able to create a design that outperforms the best steel shafts in the market.

  • Great feel and lightweight options to increase club head speed for greater distance
  • Lighter weights for faster club speed
  • Medium to medium high ball flight

UST Recoil Graphite Iron Shaft Specifications

UST Mamiya Recoil Irons is rated 4.9 out of 5 by 15.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Recoil iron shafts I have been building clubs for 20 years, just assembled a set of irons with 660 shafts, have to say some of the best feeling shafts I have ever assembled. Shaft loads and performs outstandingly...you won't be disappointed, plays true to flex...

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great lateral control perfect ball flight. I now have two sets of irons with the shafts. I am 64 and a 3 handicap. Hit my 7 iron about 155 with light weight steel stiff shafts about 163 to 165 with UST shafts. Can shape my shots. Hit it high or low. The best shafys I have found for me yet. Very consistent daft to shaft. Picked up 9 to 10 yards carry with my 4 iron. 195 to 205. Big difference.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Mamiya 670 F3 Recoil graphite shafts!!! Fantastic graphite shafts that give you the feel of steel along with the lightweight performance of graphite. I'm a 56 yr old male that used to have tired/sore shoulders and forearms after every round of golf or visit to the range. Not with my new Regular flex Recoil 670s. AWESOME!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from great shaft I use these shafts the (recoil 660and 670) for re-shafting my hybrids. The weight increase, though minor) is perfect for me. My only complaint is that the 680 does not come in regular stiffness. A real good stick.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from great shafts I put these shafts in my old Cleveland TA5 gunmetal irons (6 to PW). On the launch monitor at my local golf fitter I hit these clubs further than "new" irons from cleveland, TM, Titleist, Callaway and Mizuno. The fitter was just laughing, he finally said- "ok, you got me, the new graphite shafts are as controllable as iron shafts and are longer (in my case 10 yds). I also put the Recoil 95's in my PW, SW and LW. I hit them higher and again about 10 yds longer. Most importantly way better feel on chip and pitch shots. I am 58, 12 index and no longer have sore joint pain in shoulders, hands and elbows. UST graphite irons are all over LPGA and now are showing up on champions tour. My prediction is next big advances in technology is increased iron distance. This distance will come more from shafts then club material design. My fitter (a very good one) agrees. So try your favorite set you have used over past 15-20 yrs(remember those DCI's ;-) with these shafts- try it in one club, say 7i, be objective and you may surprise yourself and scare the *%#! out of your buddies. BTW I installed shift shafts and not R (f4 in UST speak). Fitter was very good at explaining that the correct stiffness is a factor of both swing speed and tempo and not just swing speed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Golf shaft Didn't get to buy it they discontinued the shaft. The shaft is great in my pitching wedge. Wish I could buy the rest of my set.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Alternative to light weight steel I made a set of equal length irons with these shafts and I am very satisfied with the irons which I made. They are slightly stiffer than the rating, but are very consistent.

Will the 660 r 71g 370 tip fit my mizuno mp52 irons? Replacing nippon 8950 r steel. Can a higher ball be expected?

    Asked by: JBoD
No, the Recoil 660 shafts will not fit the Mizuno MP52 irons. The MP52 irons use a .355" taper tip shaft and the Recoil 660 are a .370" parallel tip shaft. We can possibly special order the 660 from UST with a .355" taper tip. You would need to call our Customer Service at 1-800-848-8358 and they can check the special order for you.

How does bore-thru iron heads affect shaft flex?

    Asked by: Rusty
With a graphite iron shaft installing into a bore through where the shaft goes through the sole can make the shafts play a full flex stiffer. The rule of thumb is to subtract 1" from the recommended tip trimming, if possible, to maintain the shaft flex. If based on your set makeup you cannot tip trim 1" less then you would need to start with one flex more flexible to end up with the flex you want. Start with an R flex to end up with an S flex.

    Asked by: Rick
If you are asking about purchasing the Callaway Apex CF 16 irons with Recoil shafts we do not sell them. You would have to check with a local golf retailer. If you are asking about the Recoil shafts we do have those. US0099 is the order code for the Recoil 760/780 ES irons shafts. You will find them at this link and the pricing is listed. https://www.golfworks.ca/ust-mamiya-recoil-760-780-es-graphite-iron-shafts/p/US0099/

I have these shafts in my Callaway Apex irons and would like to re-shaft my Ping Glide wedges with them. Will these shafts be OK with the Ping heads?

    Asked by: hughcruik
No, the Ping wedges us a .355" taper tip shaft and these Recoil shafts are only available in a .370" parallel tip size which is to large to fit the Ping irons.
