Trimming Instructions

Grafalloy Pro Custom Graphite Iron Shafts is rated 5.0 out of 5 by 7.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Stable and. Consistent I assembled these into a set of TE forged irons. I had the need to reduce vibration due to elbow problems. I love these shafts. They feel very stable which I had not found in some other graphite shafts I tested. I also spine and flow my shafts and every single shaft had the graphics perfectly aligned. The only minor gripe I have is the paint is easily scratched. Ball flight is high but not too high. Just right for me as i am a low ball hitter. These are great shafts.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good feel and flight I have been playing the Pro Custom iron shaft for a couple of years using an R flex shaft (soft stepped: trimmed for 3 iron used in 5 iron, trimmed for 4 iron used in 6 iron). As my swing speed has decreased in the last few years I noticed the ball flight for my long irons was getting lower with less distance. I installed the A flex shaft in my long irons and both launch angle and distance improved.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Shafts These shafts offer a light weight high performance option at a very reasonable cost. I had read previous ratings that indicated these were high value shafts offering great performance and price. It sounded too good to be true, however my experience is these high ratings are right on. I am very pleased and highly recommend these shafts.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from WORKS AS RECOMMENDED I bought this shaft to replace and lengthen the shafts on my wedges to match my 8 iron. Back surgery left me not as flexible as before and these shafts work great on my gap, sand and lob wedges. Plus they are a good value. Thanks for the service and the product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great replacement shaft for my 7 Iron I bought the shaft about 1 month ago to replace the broken shaft in my Taylor Made 7 iron. After calling Golf Works for a little assistance I was able to install the shaft myself and it is a perfect replacement I can't tell any difference from the original shaft.

I would like to place a graphite shaft in my Callaway x-18  4 & 5 irons that currently have a steel uniflex shaft (bore through)  I am 60 and hit my 7 iron around 145 yd.  Would the graf pro custom be a good choice?  Would I need to add weight to head?

Asked by: Bill
The ProCustom can be a good choice and work well with the Callaway X18 irons. You would want to subtract 1" from the recommended tip trimming to maintain the true flex of the shaft when installed into a bore through. We reference an R flex for a 7 iron from 150 yards. If you used the L/A flex and only subtracted 1/2" from the recommended trimming instructions it would play between an A and R flex.

I'm 86 and still play 2 -3 times a week. Of course, i'm loosing distance and want to replace my Senior steel iron shafts with graphite shafts that have a similar feel as the steel ones. Would love new shaft recommendations. Thanks in advance.

It would help me to know which steel shafts you currently have in your irons? It would also help me to know which irons you play with? The Grafalloy ProCustom is a very good inexpensive shaft but it may not fit your irons. Many of the major manufactures irons use a .355" taper tip and if you have this type of irons the ProCustom shafts will not fit. The ProCustom is only available in a .370" parallel tip.

I purchased a Pro Custom A/L iron shaft. I want to trim to A flex. Grafalloy web site has different trim lengths than Golfworks. Which one do I need to use? There are no flex markings on the shaft. How do you tell a A/L flex from a R/S flex shaft?

Asked by: par5000
We always try and publish the instructions from the shaft manufacture. Grafalloy must have changed their instructions for this shaft. Personally having worked with this shaft I would follow our instructions (IR26). It would play truer to an A flex. The way Grafalloy is telling you to trim it would make it play a little more flexible. The flexes are marked on the label on the butt end of the shaft. There will be an AL or RS at the end of the code printed on that label.

Will this shaft fit Ping i20 head? If not, what shaft do I need?

Asked by: tygers
No, the Ping i20 irons use a .355" taper tip shaft. The Grafalloy ProCustom iron shaft is only available in a .370" parallel tip size. We stock .355" taper tip graphite shafts in the Aerotech Steel Fiber,https://www.golfworks.com/aerotech-steelfiber-graphite-shafts/c/10353/ UST Recoil https://www.golfworks.com/ust-mamiya-recoil-series-shafts/c/10451/ Paderson Kinetixx IMRT Kevlar 950 (PK0004) and Paderson Kinetixx TS-I Trajectory (PK0105)

I swing Dynamic Gold S300 shalfs in my Taylormade PSi irons. During a driver fitting, I was told these shafts are too heavy and I should swing no more than a 105 gram shaft. I was thinking about graphite, would you suggest a good shaft. I am a 5 handic

Asked by: OLE
In graphite shafts that weight around 105 grams we have the Aerotech Steel Fiber 110 (AT0016I) and the UST Recoil 110 (US0087). Both could work well with the PSi irons. In the 105 gram weight range that is all we offer in graphite shafts. There are other options with graphite depending on what weight range could work best for you. Dropping form a 127 gram weight steel shaft to a 70 gram graphite iron shaft can be a big change and I would suggest trying 1 or 2 before purchasing the whole set to see how well they can work for you.

I want to get a flex in between A flex and R flex basically hard step the A flex will it play differently and how do I cut to make this if possible thanks Ernie

Asked by: Lenny
Using the A flex and adding 1/2" to the recommended trimming should work pretty well to get you between and A and R flex.

I have Mizuno MP 58 irons. I am a senior and have a iron swing speed of 85 to 90. What graphite shaft would you recommend?

Asked by: Ron
The Mizuno MP 58 irons use a .355" taper tip shaft so that limits somewhat the graphite shaft selection for these irons. I would suggest looking at shafts like the Aerotech Steel Fiber 70CW (AT0020IE), UST Recoil 65 (US0100), and Paderson Kinetixx TS-I (PK0105). These are all .355" taper tip shafts that could work for you and will fit the MP 58 irons.
