The GolfWorks Maximum Strength High Impact Epoxy

NOTE: The GolfWorks Epoxy Cartridge Gun (#ESG2) equipped with a 2:1 Plunger (#VB1004) is required for proper dispensing. Epoxy Gun with 1:1 and 2:1 Plunger (#VB1005) also available.

Stronger Adhesion At Half The Cost! The new GolfWorks Maximum Strength High Impact and Tour Set Plus Epoxies have been formulated to match the peel and shear strength of premium 3MŪ epoxies only with more elastic qualities specifically needed for proper golf club head/shaft adhesion, at about half the cost. The Maximum Strength High Impact epoxy is formulated for the high volume clubmaker to gel in approximately 1 hour while the Maximum Strength Tour Set Plus epoxy with a gel time of 20-30 minutes is intended for smaller jobs and/or when you simply need to expedite the curing process. Both Maximum Strength epoxies feature a shear strength of 4500 psi and require a 2:1 mix ratio.

A few drivers and a few irons, and I am definitely not easy on my clubs and I do hit off of mats. You definitely need the epoxy guy with this for the right ratio.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great epoxy! This is a slow cure epoxy, which is good for club making. I would suggest that Golfworks include a couple mixing tubes (these attach to the cartridge) since you need a dispensing gun anyway; these tubes would speed up the process of mixing.

what epoxies do you recommend when shafting either irons or fairway woods to either steel or graphite shafts

What is the difference between the Maximum Strength and Tour set epoxies?

The main difference in the Max strength and the regular Tour set is the Shear Strength. Tour set has a shear strength of 3000 psi. The max strength has a shear strength of 4500 psi. Both are tested products and both shear strengths are more than enough for the golf club assembly application.

How many shafts can you do with one cartridge?

My epoxy is slightly older than 6 months.  I mixed some and left it on the cardboard to test.  The bond is very good but after it cured when I tried to fold it it breaks like peanut brittle.  Is this normal for "good" epoxy or should there be some pliabil

The Max Strength Epoxy is a 2 to 1 mix so as long as your mix was 2 to 1 you should be fine. Epoxy will set up hard and brittle if to much hardner is used, which is the 1 part in this epoxy. The epoxy manufacture recommends a shelf life of 1 year for epoxy and as long as it is stored in a room like temperature.

Does this come with the hand plunger?

No the Maximum Strength Epoxy Cartridges do not come with a plunger. Because they are a 2 to 1 mix we feel the hand plungers do not work well enough to dispense the proper amounts of Part A & B.
