Golf Club Loft and Lie Protractor

Our Golf Club Protractor is perfect for reading loft and lie measurements. Can be used to measure woods, irons and putters. The bottom of the gauge rests on a flat surface while the other side is pressed against the club face (for loft). Large easy to read markings make this gauge much easier to read than others. Stainless Steel.
Golf Club Loft and Lie Protractor is rated 5.0 out of 5 by 2.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Protractor works as advertised The protractor is robustly constructed, and it works as advertised. Recommended over the machinists' protractor which can only approximate the correct angle because the bottom of the protractor and the pivot point of the arm are not aligned.

I have a Magnetic Base Loft and Lie Angle Finder from GolfWorks made by (or for) Ralph Maltby Enterprises. It has a 360 degree gauge. Are there instructions available for the use of this instrument?

Asked by: klc
The Protractor is used along with a Golf Club Gauge like our Value Line Golf Club Gauge (HGCG) for reading loft and lie specifications. At this link for the instructions for this gauge you can see in the photo's how the Protractor is used.

I hit some balls with my eight iron using lie tape and measured the lie as 2* too upright. My eight iron measures lie 61* at the golf shop. Does this mean I should have an eight iron with 63* of loft?

Asked by: OneSigma
If your current lie angle is 61 degrees and you tested as that being 2 degrees too upright you need your lie angle to be 59 degrees. Based on your test information you need the club to be 2 degrees flatter, which would be the 59 degrees.

Can this gauge be used on its own?

Asked by: Ady
It could be used on it own for measuring club loft if you can duplicate the clamping position of a Golf Club Gauge. You can see the proper clamping position and how this protractor works in the instructions at this link.

I understand that this tool needs to sit square on a level surface and the head needs to sit at level address position. When moving the protractor gauge on the face of the driver where does the square edge sit level? In the center middle of the face?

Asked by: Golf Guy
The protractor would sit on the flat base and then you would move move other edge to sit flat on the face, in the center / middle of the face. Once in this position you can read the loft angle off of the protractor scale.

How is this protractor place for lie reading?

Asked by: Pancho
By itself this gauge will not work to measure the lie angle. You would have to have a Golf Club Gauge like the HGCG so that the club is mounted in the proper playing position and the reality is if you have the Golf Club Gauge you really to not need the protractor to read the lie angle, just the loft. We sell this protractor more for customers who may have lost their and need a replacement.
